help with rear bilstein install

i'm swapping in some B6s for my blown out rears, and don't know what to torque the top nut down to. TIS says 27nm, but the bilsteins have a lot more thread on them than the stock shocks and nothing for the assembly to bottom out to. what am i missing? i can't seem to find a rear DIY for these anywhere

Speedometer Correction all E60 M5 Versions

Hi, Having owned several BMW's over the years one of my pet peeves has always been the speedometer and the built in error. I bought a 2010 M5 over two years ago, have access to a radar gun and can tell you it's off. As the speeds climb it's WAY off. I managed to match the radar gun with a gear ratio calculator sheet I made to confirm all of this. For example at about 7250RPM in 7th is 190mph (310km/h). You'll see via YouTube videos of the gauge cluster at that speed it'll show 340km/h. So... Speedometer Correction all E60 M5 Versions

Development Thread for SMG III to 7-speed Manual Conversion

Update 2025/11/07 The project is progressing rapidly toward a production-ready prototype. I’ve engaged a legal consultant to ensure everything is handled in accordance with applicable regulations. On their advice, and in light of local Product Liability Law, I’ve requested that detailed photos of the mechanism from the early development stage be removed. Because the device operates within a gearbox, which is classified as a “safety-critical component (重要保安部品)” under Japanese law, I need to... (Very) Individual M6

Finally, the wait is just about over - the production code is now 155 - Production Complete. After being a member of the M5/M6Board for almost 5 years, my M6 is becoming a reality. 2010 BMW M6 Coupe (U.S. Spec) European Delivery (at the BMW Welt on 13 October, 2009) Normal U.S. Options: Comfort Access keyless entry Soft-close automatic doors Automatic high beams Head-up Display iPod and USB adapter Enhanced Premium Sound (no satellite radio or heated steering wheel as I live... Comprehensive MSS6x DME Disassembling / Information

I’m starting this thread to fully reverse engineer how the MSS6x logic works on the DME. This is a group effort, so whatever you can contribute is welcome. Since this is mostly an M5 crowd, we’ll be focused on the MSS65, but MSS60 info is definitely welcome too. I’m in the middle of setting up a Ghidra project with the latest files to share here, but if someone can make one faster using the XDF, go for it. I've attached a TunerPro XDF I’ve been working on that covers pretty much all the... Comprehensive MSS6x DME Disassembling / Information

Rought idle, vanos erorrs, chasing unknown situation

Ok I think I'm losing my mind a bit trying to figure it out. How do all the sprokets, hubs and different bolts are supposed to be aligned or installed, and does it actually matter? I lost my timing after doing timing chain guides. I'm trying not to grenade the engine. Does it happens how all of these are installed, or not? Does it matter where these bolts and holes are in relation to each other, in relation to the locking tools? I'm confused. I... Rought idle, vanos erorrs, chasing unknown situation

E39 euro xenon Hella headlights

Was able to talk to my supplier and as these have become impossible to get recently, we were able to confirm we can probably get 12 of these units shipped here within 8-12 weeks (possibly sooner). I'm not sure how many more we're be able to get after this TBH. The last batch we ordered also took this long, came in non-descript non-hella boxes, but were true original euro hella xenon lights. Ryan from E39Source ordered a bunch for his customers as well. Anyways, our price has gone up... E39 euro xenon Hella headlights

Valve springs: OEM, Carbahn, Supertech or Schrick?

Hi guys As 1 of the last major points on the list, I'm planning on getting my valve springs (+seals) and drive chains + guides replaced next month. The car only has 135k kms or 84k miles, but they sometimes break springs and regarding the chains, the plastic guides are nearing 20 years of age. Rather getting it done now instead of waiting untill parts get more expensive or unobtainable. Regarding the springs: Carbahn: 995$ +30% Supertech: 750$ +30% Schrick: 2000€... Let's talk DCT conversion

So as many of you know, the DCT conversion has been done, so it IS possible. I've been doing a little bit of research and have put together a very *rough* plan to explore the reality of what would be required to make this work. I wanted to reach out to everyone in hopes that we could accumulate some useful info to help make this happen. So far, I've gathered the following: 1. The bell housing bolt pattern is the same between the SMG & DCT. 2. The shift lever is obviously different... Let's talk DCT conversion

Anyone want to help me source a E61 M5 rear bumper??

I'm halfway through an US E61 M5 wagon build and figured I'd try here for help sourcing a rear bumper. I had a lead in Canada, then the gentleman decided to keep it. I was then okay with enlisting support merging a US wagon bumper with a M5 sedan bumper, as a last resort. Any leads?? Ideas? The rear bumpers appear in stock at Hubauer-Shop, but that would be too easy. Does anyone have a contact there? I'd consider any option I can get my hands on... Vanos LAB the Easy VANOS test for M5 E39 and Z8

Hi everyone! I’ve been working on VANOS LAB , a simple tool for testing the VANOS system on the E39 M5 and Z8. It brings the essential BMW DIS VANOS test into a faster, modern and easy-to-read application. Built and tested on my own M5. I’d love to hear your feedback! VANOS LAB — Diagnostic VANOS M5 & Z8

Infinity Design Carbon air intake review and Mshift engineering studio

hi everyone, just posting some feedback on my experiences with intakes. So i had the eventuri system v1 for many years, over the course of a few years i removed them and fitted back to stock as we had some issues trying to iron out (not related to their intake). It was a great system, but a few things, like LHS always rubbed on my wiring harness and the bracket that holds the carbon would get loose easily, the sound was great but not optimal as it does get some hot air in engine bay...
