I went to the NAWCC Mid-America regional over the weekend and spontaneously bought this massive early 18th century French clock case from the back of somebody's SUV. I only superficially glanced at the front (it was wrapped in a blanket) and asked no questions before driving to an ATM to get the cash. Hi all. I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on the best way to clean and lubricate the train bridge jewels on a Camy Jetking with an ETA 2750. It's a 21 jewel, time only movement. The train bridge pivots appear to be flat capped apart from the centre wheel one. On turning the bridge over, the hole jewels seem to have a brass ring around them. Do these rings unscrew? Trying to find info on the movement and model of this beautiful Pocket watch. There are clear markings on the inner case, dial, movement, movement cover and cuvette. There is nothing to denote if this is 14k gold or gold filled and nothing but the manufacturers name on the movement bridge. Hi all! A few years back, we picked up this interesting mantel clock at a regional. It caught our eye with its interesting pendulum and "bim-bam" mechanism. I vaguely remember that at the time, the gentleman who sold it said that the company that made it had too many wall clock movements and after the war, wall clocks were falling out of fashion in favor of mantel clocks so they converted the movements to work in a mantel clock case. Hi, can anyone help me with identifying this 24 ligne movement from a glass globe desk clock? I cannot find any identifying marks anywhere, including under the bridges, on the plates, under the dial, etc. I am ultimately looking for a donor with a good balance and hairspring. We recently acquired this Rockford 18s model 1 with an early Abbott's stem wind conversion.

It needs a pendulum, but I'm sure I can come up with something to get it working in the interim. It's also missing the 2 screws that hold the movement and face securely in the case.

Smaller parts of watch movements usually do not have room for the full serial number. Waltham just put a partial number on parts like pallet bridges and balance cocks. But Elgin and Illinois, at least for a while, would use coded symbols on the smaller plates and bridges to indicate the full serial number. (This practice is discussed here - Letters on balance cocks ? ) Elgin used this method inconsistently for movements with serial numbers from 1 to 10 million, but also some... Read more

Ive bought this clock as a non-runner with damages springs. I have replaced springs with new and cleaned it with ultrasonic cleaner and polished all pivots etc. All issues ironed out with light oil on pivots it ran for 8 days nonstop and kept good time and I was very pleased with the result. Since then I dismounted it from the board in order to add the chime and also lightly added some clock spring grease to the main springs. Since remounting it 3 days ago I simply had no luck keeping it... Read more
