I am trying to repair the Lionel train orders building 6-52340. I have disassembled the building and gear box in order to clean up solidified grease. All gears now move freely when moved by hand. Gears now move freely when I apply power at the workbench via an accessory transformer. The moveable platform with the service man moves as expected, until it makes contact with and fully depresses either of the two switches. Then the motor turns off. After manually shutting off power at this... Lionel train orders building 6-52340 (2)

I just got an mth big boy number 4016 (not mine in photo.) Its from 2013 I believe. Which got me thinking. The big boy is easily one of the most recognizable and beloved engines out there. So Who did the engine its best justice in ho scale? I dont have any experience with other big boy models so im kind of in the dark as to which is thought to be the better quality renditions of this historic machine i just know its on a lot of modelers wish list.so im just curious which is your favorite big... Who do you think makes the best big boy?
Has anyone seen or heard anything from Scale Trains concerning their latest S scale rolling stock release, a flat car with trailer load? I thought I had pre-ordered one last fall for August 2026 delivery? But going to my account on the Scale Trains website, I couldn’t find any record of the transaction. I reordered another one with no delivery promises. Not sure what’s happening?
I recently bought a Lionel 1689W whistle tender off EBay. It looked to be in great condition, but I didn’t test it before taking the shells off to strip and repaint. The fan moves manually, and all wires are connected the way I found them (I replaced two wires and reconnected them to the post). When I put on the track, no sounds are present (hitting the whistle button). Makes me wonder if one of the wires goes to the bottom post? Take it all apart and clean and lubricate it all? [ATTACH... Lionel 1689W Wiring Correct?
In 1967 Gilbert filed for bankruptcy and the company was liquidated at auction. Hobby Surplus purchased most of the unused shells and chassis'. In 1970 Hobby Surplus sold 3,000 of the shells to Kris Model trains. Kris developed new artwork and began selling the freshly decorated Gilbert cars in 1970. Pictured below is one of them, an Erie Lackawanna boxcar. I found this at a train show in 1990. In the 1980's Hobby Surplus began selling the decorated shells, with or without chassis, using the... For you sleuths; A few years back I bought 2 O-scale E-60 body shells from a domestic producer. Does anyone know the manufacturer and are the shells still available? I made one as NJ Transit and sold it on ebay and the other is as pictured. It will be a Deseret Power Railway unit if I ever complete it. It has the frame and running gear from a Lionel TMCC U-33C.
I have an AHM 5001 switcher. I'm trying to convert it to Kadee couplers. Kadee #5s are too low. Can someone tell me which Kadee offset shank couplers I need ?
Ok long story short. Got some great help months ago with a TAS EOB setup in a used locomotive I purchased, worked great for some time.. Fast forward the eob board finally gave up its aged grace after months of regular use. After figuring that out I replaced it with ERR’s cruise commander m board. Works great, nice and smooth!! Now here I am. Got a super chuffer II installed and ready to go. Found out I need a chuff generator to pulse the chuffer and the railsounds board. It’s installed... Chuff Generator Issues
If you could only buy one cutter, which would you choose? My feeling is that the vertical cutter allows the cutting of loose track as well as already installed track, whereas the horizontal cutter is designed to cut loose track only. I'm assuming both make an equally clean cut (at least on one side of the cut). Are both capable of opening the same amount (as rail height is greater than rail width) in order to cut both rail height and width? Are they equally accurate to use? Is orientation... Xuron 2175B (horizontal) vs 2175M (vertical) Track cutters
I just purchased a Mehano Powered 4-8-2 Steam Engine Canadian National #6060 Locomotive HO Scale - the engine is missing the connector clip to sent power to the rear light of the tender. Does anyone know where I can buy a clip that will fit the receptacle on the tender?
Looking at converting some williams 18 inch cars from 18v incandescent bulbs to a 5v led strip. With four #1826 18v incandescent bulbs, 2 bulbs each truck wired in parallel for each truck. I calculated and see on my amp meter about .62 amps per car, running 18vac. I just bought a 2 meter led strip, specs say 9w per meter, that's about 4.5 watts per 18" for each car. P= v * i So at 5v that's 4.5/5 = about .9 amps per car with led. What am I missing here?
