I am considering a Penn Squall II15CS for 8nbait/Drum/sharks. If I was lucky enough to hook a tarpon in the surf, would the line capacity be enough to land it? What type (braid or mono) and lb line should be used for tarpon in the surf? I am greatful for any other info on tarpon (hooks, bite leaders, shock leaders), but am not asking for trade secrets. included some squall II15CS specs below

I've been watching fishing reports from the OBX with envy, seems like lots of good-size spanish showing up for big chunks of the day. I also noticed they are catching the occasional lookdown in the surf. I've caught many of those guys just a little ways offshore but I don't recall ever seeing one in that close. Is that new?

Got there before sunrise this morning. Decent number of cars already in the parking lot...some spent the night. The bite took about one hour materialize but was fairly consistent. Fish were small to medium….smaller than last week.

I have multiple styles and sizes of rods I got from grandparents. Three have missing/broken eyelets and tips. Wondering if more cost effective to fix myself or just take to someone? Not looking to spend a lot just get them casting again. The inshore rod has 3 eyelets broken. Thanks
This time the test subject is a 9.5-inch Atlantic croaker. Some anglers fillet fish this size. Some scale and cook them whole. Some claim there's a better way. I honestly don't know. So rather than pretend to be an expert, I filmed myself muddling through the process to see how much meat I could actually recover and whether filleting a fish this small is worth the effort. Video: Now for the important question: What's the smallest fish you'll... Filleting Pan Fish

I didn't read anywhere that the "stand alone"saltwater fishing license fees will be increasing. Can someone confirm that? Thanks

Shimano Stradic 4000XG Unboxed & Reviewed For 2026! This is part of the FM series as the FL is only now being released. I'll be explaining this years Stradic release on what the features are & what to expect. I had an older C5000 & C3000 but decided to upgrade and get this year's model in a 4K. This summer i just added 2 recent releases. This Shimano Stradic 4000XG & a Daiwa Freams LT5000-CXH. I have a lot of equipment already (roughly 200 reels & 150 rods). Just wanted to try a few new...
