Dan1: The original batteries were suited for ICE where the discharge is brutal at 400Amps during cranking and then starts getting replenished minutes later as the alternator starts spinning. Exactly, it is just like the difference between the cranking battery and the deep cycle batteries on a boat.

Theoretical question. What would happen if you are a pensioner who only worked in the UK and have an S1, and then did some work here to supplement your pension earnings?

It’s not that it should be a decent battery ..it is that it should be an appropriate battery .. long duration rather than heavy peak current

Dan1: How old was the battery .. ?. .and how long was the EV between used when it happened 2 years and I last used it yesterday, so not great. It’s a known issue and the answer seems to be just buy a decent battery.
