Keep er Lit Dog Show and Raceday Sunday 30 th August 2026 As my Samsung rang out at the dawning of the day, it was time to get out of bed and get on the road for the last Dog show and Race day of the summer season. As we made our way along the beautiful Antrim coast, through the village of Doagh, very soon we arrived at the now famous Doagh Equestrian. This was the venue for the “Keep er Lit” Dog show and Race day Sunday 30 th August 2026. By the time we arrived at the venue the field was filling up fast. Families and trailers arrived in abundance with their loyal Canine friends in tow, all crooning the dog chorus, and full of winning spirit. The weather was good, and although a little cloudy at times, there was no rain in sight. As the morning progressed, so did the banter and the craic. The rings were well spaced out with a good long race track. The children had a field day playing safely, and under the watchful eye of parents and family. It was evident from the start that this show was going to run like clock work as Leigh Thompson and Paddy Gibson are expierenced hands in this area. The organisation and timing was impeccable, resulting in the racing and showing keeping to schedule and starting on time. Paul Boyd was there with his Country Sports stand with everything needed for the up and coming work in the field. What's your thoughts on them, every c**t seems to be rocking them and some look very poor, but those with the built in cupboards look better, I've read they can cause your TV to give up the ghost sharpish due to the lack of ventilation, thoughts?

THE GLENSHANE WORKING DOG CHARITY SHOW AND RACEDAY SUNDAY 23 rd AUGUST 26 ( IN AID OF THE BRITISH TRANSPLANT GAMES, SUPPORTING BIRMINGHAM CHILDRENS TRANSPLANT GAMES) With its beautiful countryside views in the valley beneath the famous Sperrin Mountains lies Tobermore Golf Club just a short distance outside Maghera. This was the venue for The Glenshane Charity Working Dog Show and Raceday Sunday 23 rd August 26. And what a day and venue that was. As we arrived in the field, I could feel a real carnival atmosphere and a very warm and welcoming crowd. Safe to say I could smell the immaculately cut grass with the rings well spaced out and a good long race course. As this now annual show was run for a very special charity close to the organisers heart, the gods were on our side, with not a drop of rain all day. As the morning progressed into noon, cars and trailers with dogs in tow filled the field to capacity. It was not long to the craic and the banter was in full swing amongst our good canine men and women on the day. As the work in the field is fast approaching, it was nice to get another great sporting day out at the Glenshane dog show with like minded Folk. The Knockmenagh Dog Show and Race Day Sunday 16 th August 2026 Deep in the heart of the Orchard County lies the beautiful town land of Craigavon. With its magnificent Lakes, Leisure centre, and Football pitches, this beautiful setting was the venue for the Knockmenagh Dog Show and Raceday last Sunday 16 th August 2026. We were blessed with the weather for a change, with a nice cool breeze and a few small showers, which was ideal for our Canine friends on the racecourse. Sportsmen, women and their little folk arrived in force from early morning with their prized Canine crew in tow. From my own observation, over the past couple of years our doggie shows have become real family days out, and Sunday was no different. This was very evident by the turnout on the day. There was a lovely moment at the show on Sunday, when I walked into the show tent. There before my eyes was Shannon Reynolds feeding all her and Fred Gentles we girls, and them all sitting around in a circle like we steps of stairs and enjoying every bite that went into their mouth. What a lovely family of wee girls and all so mannerly. There was just a lovely homely atmosphere at this show, good craic, and a few chin whacks with the good folk of the doggie world. The Shannagh Dog Show and Race Day Sunday the 9 th August 2026. Downpatrick is a historic town in County Down, sitting on the Lecale peninsula. Shadowed by the beautiful mountains of Mourne lies the townland of Ballydugan. This was the magnificent venue for the Shannagh Dog show and Race day last Sunday 9 th August 2026. The weather was not on our side on Sunday. But this did not dampen the spirits of our loyal canine community, and by noon the field had filled up with dogs, trailers, and families all out for a good days racing and showing. The venue was superb, with the rings well spaced out and a good long race track. Paul Boyd was there with his Country Sports stand with everything you need in Country Sports. There was also a burger stand and toilets on site. The raffle always generates a lot of anticipation and fun and many happy campers went home with some good prizes. God bless the wee man Declan Feeney the huntsman that was calling out the winning numbers. He was better than any microphone. Next on the menu was the Digging competition. Very soon the shirts and tops were flying in the air and the digging had started. The waft of excitement around this ring was unbelievable. It was not only men digging on Sunday, but also 2 ladies took part. And buoy did they give it there all and definitely did not let the side down. Well done girls.
