I I have a real nice stainless steel net that my friend Chris Strain made (Done Working)on tf. I had so many crabs in the basket, it snapped in half when I lifted it out of the water. Well made but 10 years old. I look at several options for a new pole but finally settled on bamboo. Its very strong and cost me nothing......Gary

Ok to bring the tribalism down a notch, I will start a 2026 cooking thread. Food brings folks together like nothing else. was at the Middletown de Walmart the night before the "bomb cyclone" 2 weeks ago and saw a pellet grill was on clearance. I've wanted one but I'm notoriously cheap, and refused to buy one till it was seriously on sale. Problem, box was too big for car. Had to go home, then go back right in the heat of the pre storm madness- along all the normal Walmart pajama wearing... 2026 What's Cooking Thread

I rarely catch redfish in MD waters. Even on my fishing trips to Florida, I catch an occasional red. During the past two days, I fished with kayak guide Alex Tejeda in the Banana River a few miles from Cape Canaveral and caught quite a few quality reds. On Sunday morning we anchored on a shallow flat and tossed out pieces of frozen mullet. Over three hours, I caught 7 redfish between 25" and 27". The fight was excellent. [ATTACH... Fun with redfish

This time the test subject is a 9.5-inch Atlantic croaker. Some anglers fillet fish this size. Some scale and cook them whole. Some claim there's a better way. I honestly don't know. So rather than pretend to be an expert, I filmed myself muddling through the process to see how much meat I could actually recover and whether filleting a fish this small is worth the effort. Video: Now for the important question: What's the smallest fish you'll... Filleting Pan Fish

Matt got his boat back with a new three-quarter tower. So Matt and Jeff and I ran down south looking for Redfish. We knew these fish were there somewhere, but it is a big bay. Lots of staring at the water, lots of staring at the monitors, lots of empty miles. Ultimately the fleet zeroed in on the area and we were compelled to join in. Salt water rodeo. Catching these fish is a ton of fun but the battle of the boats is a bummer. The fish move so fast... That's Enough of That - Mid Bay Reds
