every single night --

Kneel every single night There are certain things that shape a person, and you’ll find all of the wrong ones here. Kneel was first and foremost arrogant. Disgustingly so, it was as if he emerged from the womb with prospect and accomplishment. Importance. To his own people, anyways. Though they claimed to know him, to love him, he found that they realistically could never know him at all. Kneel watches the river like he’s owed something from it, glaring at rivulets of aqua until he gives a dramatic sigh and dips his head to drink. Lavender tendrils of his mane spilling over his face like an intricate curtain, swirling past cattails until they tangled themselves within the threads of cerulean drink, and though his Father would have hated this—Kneel finds himself indifferent to the wet. At least it was clean. Once his thirst had been sated, Kneel lifted his confetti-painted head to stare at a rippled reflection, watching his visage stretch, pull away from him, before it finally crushed its way back towards the bank. The river watches him more than he watches himself, yet the practice of looking upon his own face was something he never truly understood. Kirin made a point of it— Kneel was still trying to figure out what the point was. If he should feel something about the distortion of his features, the importance was lost, exchanged with frustration at the way the breeze sent his tail colliding with his wet mane. The ensuing knot rightly pissed him off. ”Fucking wind,” he snarle

it's very strange to me She is a peculiar thing, there amongst the rubble. Her sunrise eyes could be alluring, if they weren’t so unnaturally bright. Her face could be comely, if it wasn’t drawn and serious, focused on her latest obsessive task. A sound pulls her attention from it, momentarily, and she looks over a teal shoulder to find the source. Others are drawn away from her like opposing magnets, usually. They feel a sense of increasing doom or perhaps the brush of death the closer they get to her. It is engineered by her to be so. Or had been. Vael twists her spine further to eye the now vacant bit of mane her seashell ward had once occupied. Right. Loneliness gripped her heart and squeezed under the light of the last full moon. That too, was peculiar. Because she had never been lonely before in her life, not really. She had so many friends: bugs and bats, snails and seagulls, foxes and frogs. Even the ferns and the oaks and the clover. How could loneliness happen upon her like a sneaker wave? Oh, what a silly thing. To be lonely when life blossoms and grows and exists all around! Vael had tried to banish the shadow over her heart, but it persisted. So even as she turns back to the Ruins and shaves the rockface with her fortified horn (pulling the remnants towards her with a hoof), she has one ear swiveled behind her. Hoping that it is not impending doom they feel but curiosity. She already feels it within her. Vael

this love like a hole, swallow my soul; vlx

yes i know that love is like ghosts, few have seen it but everybody talks — She had felt the shift in the veil even if she had been nowhere near that desolate beach. Their voices, usually delegated to background whispers, had gradually risen in volume until they became impossible to ignore. Their excitement was nearly tangible, with a frantic undertone that almost made her uneasy. In her experience it was never a good sign when they became restless; when they started to think they could have back all the things they had lost. When she had been younger and newly cursed, this had been the thing that plagued her most, the knowing that there was nothing she could do to help them. She could not resurrect them; she could not right whatever wrongs they had left behind in their lives. And yet that had done nothing to keep them from begging, pleading, bargaining, and it was only her fear of becoming one of them that kept her on this side of the afterlife. She has grown now, and finally learned the best way to bear this burden. She has let go of that melancholic bitterness that had settled in her heart after she had briefly tasted magic (and the ability to control the voices) before having it ripped from her. She has learned how to ignore them, to feign indifference so thoroughly that they give up and dissipate back into nothing. But this would change things. If someone had tampered with the gate that kept them on the other side, there is no telling how far it might escalate. Some of t
