Would it be right to say that Khmer people say it as 'kmeye' ? (one syllable) that's what it sounds like when I ask natives to say it Not really, it's more like "kmey". Ey, like the end of "Hey" not eye. I noticed in international school teaching that if you don't learn a particular language before you are 5 years old, you will always speak that language with an accent, and won't be aware of it. I know a lot of Cambodian and mixed kids, many have gone to international schools and they speak fluent English with a distinctly American accent. I think I prefer my kid to have a Cambodian accent than a yank one! She even says her name like they do, long drawn out way. I know a few northern English who have kids and they have an American accent but mixed with northern. It’s hilarious listening to them speak. “Daaaddy, are we going up the rood to the warterrrrr like?” My kid told me off for saying ZED instead of ZEE. “That’s not right!”

When cannabis was first legalized in the United States (in Colorado and Washington States) existing drug dogs in those states were retired. As a police chief friend of mine said "you cannot 'untrain' these dogs. You cannot tell them 'ignore cannabis'".
Had a conversation about pronouncing “Khmer” and saying kumeye and the majority expats said that’s how it’s correctly pronounced. Ok, fair enough. Yes, this has come up before. The pronunciation in the Khmer language is not "kumeye" - it only has one syllable. It's often people who only know about five words who use it. As far as I'm concerned it's like saying "I'm going to Paree (Paris) in the spring after I visit Deutschland". As for "Kymer", I've often seen it written but have no idea what it's supposed to be. Then there's "Nom Penh", that's just wrong. What pronunciation I use depends on entirely context: if I'm speaking with a Khmer person I will pronounce it K'my (one syllable for sure) since that's what they say (they ask "do you speak K'my?", "do you like K'my food?" "do you have K'my girlfriend?" , but if I'm talking with another foreigner I'll usually say K'mair. It would be the same in France; speaking to a French person I would indeed say I was going to Paree. And, if I was speaking with a Khmer I would also say I was going to "bparis" since that's what they say. And I would say I'm from am-erik.
20 years ago I was travelling from Utapao airport to Koh Samui. After I had checked in my suitcase my name was called on the speakers at the airport. As I got closer to the desk I was called to a lot of soldiers surrounded my and other soldiers started moving fellow passengers away from that area of the airport. I was told to open my suitcase carefully as a lot of soldiers pointed guns at me and slowly backed away from me. As it turns out I had packed my motorcycle helmet in my suitcase and inside the helmet I had put a lot of electronics (my spare phone, 2 small speakers and a travel radio) to protect them from hard baggage handling by the ground crew. The security soldiers at the airport got the wrong idea of the content of my suitcase when they ran it in their machine. A very tense moment as I unpacked my suitcase indeed.
Possible to have both qualities in ONE dog but very very difficult to teach BOTH skills at the same time (and therefore very very costly as you need to invest a LOT of time before handing a dog over for work) Agreed. Belgian Malinois are one of the few breeds that fall into both categories of being good sniffers and also dogs you really don't want to annoy. In the village I live in there is about 2000 truffle dogs (human population 4000). NONE is a Malinois (they are used to protect house &livestock from thieves and wild boar and wolf). Very few pure breads (like Lagotto Romangnolo, too costly). 95% is MUTTS dogs (mostly hunting genes like Pointer/Setter and Labrador/Retriever (easy to train). Trufflehunters often cross their Mutt dogs and share the offspring further diluting original race. A truffle dog can be quit stubborn and have a strong own character while beeing a very good truffle hunter. Often not perfectly obedient. This would make it a difficult police dog Malinois are very clever dogs and allways follow directions of their owners (if trained) so they much better qualify as a police/custom dog.
34 kg in one bag will always be refused as it is over the.maximum weight PER PIECE the staff and the baggage handling systems can handle, fuck all to do with drugs The picture shows 2 bags. I was responding to Flexxman while trying not to quote too much

Any new recommendations or places to avoid for getting contents insurance? Thanks after 9 year's there must be
Why this sudden spike in seizures? Are there more smugglers than before or has detection improved? I must say the couriers do not appear too concerned with concealing their load which suggests it was formerly easier to get away with. Is there any common destination where this stuff is bound for? a few new dogs at each airport and the seizures go up dramatically. Especially with such huge loads that are badly concealed.. A truffle dog can smell a truffle the size of a grain buried 30cm under the earth from far away. Immagine how difficult to smell 32 kg of weed or a few kilos of other illicit substances. Easy job. Quite a while ago I had bought a quart of pot & put it down my balls, took it home & then went to the pub. Hours later I was at a table with at least 10 friends when a cop walked in with his dog, this dog made a beeline straight for me. Amazing sense of smell, I was so impressed! Fortunately only a few of them police dogs are "sniffers". Most are for protection "only". You would not usually take a sniffer into a crowded place. He would go kind of crazy because he smells various types of dope simultanously coming from all the directions (especially in a full pub!!). No we don't have dogs mostly for protection "only", general patrol dogs are trained to track & attack. In Oz we regularly have drug detection dogs in crowed areas; concerts, train stations, pubs etc. It's very rare to have a good "combined" dog for track/seek AND attack/defend as the skills needed for each
