I went in this morning to reroute some relay circuits to power some of the magic for Frozen I ended up tracing multiple cables that were ghosts from previous shows Still need to take down some specials that were there for a single function that have been there since 1776 So it was 1/2 new work 1/2 Exorcising the ghosts of previous shows. Some conduit that once held something but now just there to knock your head on up on the lift. Some leftover plastic snow on top of the work lights... Read more

We've bought a couple of the newer AVIO install adapters and have had mixed results. Currently trying to use one to feed a QSC MP A40V. Anyway, wired nice and clean, but the input to the QSC is very weak. Swapped over to the XLR version of the AVIO and it was fine. The spec charts on the AVIO don't seem to indicate anything other than the output can be switched, but maxes at +4 dBu which should be enough to push the QSC. Has anyone run into similar issues with these install boxes?
I basically want to make on of these: I have read this thread ( https://www.controlbooth.com/threads/clearcom-diy-cans.7853/ ) and I am thinking that I can just take the right LED and some resistors, connect it to the right pins and it will work. But I know that it will be more complicated then that... I see no reason to have a tone, it would be nice to have a brightness control, but if its only a single LED I dont think its... Read more
Hi all! I have a class assignment where I need to gather information about the Miro Cube, and I'm looking to know what the upsides and drawbacks are to this fixture since I can't get my hands on it physically. I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts!
I am researching the ColorSource Fresnel V and need some thoughts on comparisons between this product and other similar products. Pros and cons possibly. Any thoughts?
When selecting industrial LED lighting , the debate often centers on 4000K (Neutral White) versus 5000K (Cool White) . This guide analyzes these options through the lens of optical physics, human factors engineering, and long-term ROI. 1. The Physics of CCT: Understanding the Blue Light Peak To understand the functional difference, we must look at the Spectral Power Distribution (SPD) of the LED chips. 4000K (Neutral... Read more
What are the pros and cons of using wireless DMX over wired DMX ? There seem to be quite a few issues when it comes to interference from the audience's electronic devices, but are there any other cons?
Hello! I'm doing a project for my Lighting 1 class on the Gio @5 console , and was wondering if anyone had any experiences (good or bad!) with it they'd wanna share? I'm mostly just finding specs online, but not many actual benefits or downsides of using it compared to other consoles.
Hello! I was wondering if anyone has any experience with any type of LED tape? trying to find pros, cons and anything in-between!!! Thanks ))
Hi all! I just wanted to ask about the Eos Apex. What has been peoples experience with the console ? Was it good? Complicated? Bad? I just want someones honest review of the product!
Our Middle School has a 20 year old ETC Express 48/96 lighting controller installed when the school was built. It's been a solid workhorse for these past 20 years, but it appears to have gone belly-up recently, as I was informed today. I stopped and checked things out, and it's unresponsive. I've sent an e-mail to ETC Support to see what thoughts they have, but it's probably time for the school to consider a new board. My concern is that I don't see much of anything similar out there... I am in charge of a newly formed public school theatre department with no budget. We are staging a play in our school cafeteria area that has an alcove section that I am putting a modified thrust stage in. I have a stage light panel that will give me straight on lighting rgbw but was looking for a way to put some color on the stage area to help tone down the white light. I have purchased three rolls, 6.5 ft, of LED strips to put in the framing of the alcove to help give the rgb lighting... Read more
