Despite all the goofabouting, I still beat Jeff to the top of Pacifico Mtn--by a whole ten minutes! I picked out the best available spot and started unloading the car. It was a small but beautiful campground with impressive boulders and trees and views. That is the best spot! Campsite 7

I've worked with the composer multiple times before when he was an additional writer and the orchestrator is one of my closest friends! Yeah I want to see this movie too. I'll mention to them you really liked it.

Consistency of the waste during the trips? Thickness, porosity, moisture content? I'd describe it as having the consistency of a milkshake that isn't so thick that you can't consume it through a straw, and not so thin that it looks, feels and tastes like a liquid--not that I looked at it or tasted it. But I sure did feel it with my butt. And that's how you begin and end a sentence with the same sound but not the same word.

I don't seem to get any notifications, even tho my settings look like I SHOULD. Broken feature? Can you clarify what doesn't work? Did you sign up for a specific notification, and the notification never happened? If it's broken, I want to fix it. Hmmm... Maybe it does work? U just hafta hunt for'em. I guess, as this is justa browser-based page, I don't really get any notifications via email, cept for PM's...

I went to see Heart of the Beast starring Brad Pitt, mostly because I like Brad Pitt and wilderness adventure stories. The combination of the two was too much to resist. Thankfully I couldn't remember much about the trailer except for the log-crossing scene, so the plot elements were mostly new to me. If you plan to see it, don't watch the trailer, and just go see it. It takes place in the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness. Much of the camping and backpacking and surviving will feel real to those of us with the knowledge and experience to appreciate it. It's about a man and his dog, two retired combat veterans seeking a little peace in the middle of the mountains, far away from civilization--and the fight. But shit happens, and they have to fight for their lives once again. I enjoyed this movie immensely. It made me cry. And I'm talking actual tears down the cheek.

I didn't camp at Chilao this time but I did visit the visitor center. I don't think I'd been there before when it was open. Near the entrance several birders were photographing birds. Inside there was a volunteer manning the front desk. I immediately eyeballed the postcards and asked how much. He said they were free, which is my favorite price for postcards. Give me your address and maybe I'll send you one! Here's a photo of some rocks for Nate. And a bear--for people who like bears. Outside I wandered over to the historic ranger cabin, which was moved to Chilao from the West Fork in 1983. Then I ate some crackers in the parking lot, watched a couple prepare for a hike, and drove home.
