Annual Review

Had my yearly diabetes review this afternoon, bloods, wee, Doppler and probe on feet, injection sites checked for lumps, blood pressure, height and weight. And as an added bonus they did my flu jab too. Martin

CGM limitations and precautions

Moderator Note: This helpful reply was copied from another thread as it details some of the commonly experienced limitations of continuous glucose sensors. MarinaDE said: My blood sugar has been in perfect range for days now, but although I haven't changed anything, I'm starting to get very short periods of hypos while I sleep and this morning I had a hypo alarm. Click to expand... If these are very short periods of lows and occur overnight, they are more likely to be compression lows - when pressure is... Read more

Type 2 Diabetes Neuropathy symptoms and mental confusion

My husband does not come on here, so I post when I am worried about symptoms. He has worsening neuropathy of the legs, gets very tired easily and seems less mentally alert. He will not go to the doctors! But does use his monthly repeat prescription for tablets which he does take. I am at my wits end with him! Is there any none prick testers out that there that are reliable?

Nexus Mini Ultra - Beeping

Can anyone advise, my Nexus Mini Ultra device is periodically loud beeping and I am unsure what this may mean or what to do about it. I was issued this on prescription when first diagnosed, so I dont know if it may be a built in thing after so many uses. I googled but dont understand how to access any menu to silence. Could it be just that the device thinks its been too long since my last ched? Thanks for any help.

Part time diabetes

I had a coffee with a friend yesterday she’s known me for 40 years, I’ve had T1 for 48 years. I thought she ‘got it’ in as much as someone who doesn’t have diabetes can. Asked if I wanted a slice of cake I said no thanks, we then went through the ‘are you sure’ ‘go on it looks lovely’ charade. I said no I don’t want to have any more insulin at the moment. She said “Surely not every time” The disbelief that yes indeed every time I eat carbs I need insulin and however delicious coffee &... Read more

I Found This News Item Sickening

Last night the the State of Tennessee botched the execution of death row inmate Christa Pike. Keeping somebody on Death Row for thirty years is "cruel and unusual" in itself. What she did deserves punishment, and potentially imprisonment until she dies or gets moved into a care/nursing home. She may even no longer be a danger as there was a prior history of abuse and mental illness. I imagine the "eye for an eye" sickos who were disappointed by the execution's failure will later be... Would an insulin pump help me, could I self-fund, and could I manage DIY?

I'm having a rough time with managing my diabetes despite a good HbA1c and TIR, leading to considerable diabetes distress, and I'm wondering whether an insulin pump would be helpful. - diabetic since April last year, excellent glycaemic control, presumably still honeymooning as I've never needed more than 4.5u basal (though I'm tiny, only 49kg) - TDD rarely over 20u - multiple physical disabilities which make everything harder to deal with and mean I'm already burned out, and... MEDICAL EXEMPTION CERTIFICATE

Good morning, i have been diagnosed with Type 2 for over a decade, drug controlled.I have never paid for my prescriptions due to being exempt. I have recently received 2 letters from NHS Business Authority with a penalty notice and prescription charges. £99 and £19.80 for the end of May this year. I am awaiting a statement from my GP about how long i have been on diabetic drugs, as i cannot understand why they have suddenly picked 1 month in over 10 years. Anyone else with similar issues? I... Coming off Dapagliflozin

My GP has agreed to me coming off Dapagliflozin as the diuretic effect was ruining my quality of life. Since then, my blood glucose, which was firmly in the non-diabetic readings, has risen despite my keto diet. Has this happened to anyone else, and does it settle down in time? I really really don't want to go back on the drug. Sorry Mods - posted in the wrong section. Please would you forgive and transfer?

YpsoPump carbs and highs

Hey everyone, I've recently had pump training at the end of August and currently using ypsopump and libre 3 plus sensors with novorapid insulin (was previously on apidra and lantus). Today i had a little treat of a Costa cherry bakewell. I inputted the correct carbs abd even split it over a slowly absorbed meal (45g carbs in total) but my sugars have sky rocketed up to an 18. Now going to a 15. Im really depressed by it as today I was in range 90% of the time. But noticing if I eat very... Read more
