That’s correct, some form of escrow and dispute resolution is unavoidable, because a bank transfer can’t be verified on-chain. “Non-custodial” for us means that no single party, including us and the arbitrator, can move the funds alone. How we plan to handle it: Escrow:The seller’s crypto is locked in an escrow that needs two or three parties (buyer, seller, arbitrator) to release it. Arbitrator’s role: They can only decide between the buyer and the seller. They can’t send the funds anywhere else or release them alone. Fewer disputes: Payment proofs where the payment method allows them (we’re exploring zkTLS-style proofs) , reputation scores, low trade limits for new users, and a buyer stake on payment methods that can be reversed. Firo has no smart contracts, so how the escrow works on this side is an open design question. That’s why we’re asking the team for a technical review.
Discussion Logs Telegram: View @firocfc [9/30/2026 3:29 AM] Nrsimha: @panagot Have some questions about the proposal. [9/30/2026 3:29 AM] Nrsimha: 1) “Newcomer / unlinked tips: A temporary address holds that tip until they claim. While it is waiting: Only the real author (after Forum or X login) can claim it.” So if person who got tipped never claim it, original tipper cannot reach it? And stays in firotip’s wallet forewer? [9/30/2026 3:31 AM] Nrsimha: 2) Could minimum amount be set? Currently somebody could spam tips by ridiculous amounts. If some bad actor will do it, it could spoil reputation of the tip service. [9/30/2026 3:35 AM] Nrsimha: 4) Is there significant danger Firotip X account will be marked as spam and get blocked on X? [9/30/2026 3:36 AM] Nrsimha: I mean for sending multiple messages with this text “A private $FIRO tip was sent to you…” [9/30/2026 3:54 AM] PANAGOT: Hello Nrshimha, Yes happy to explain. It can be be reset back to the tipper after a time period for example 7 days . Of course a limit can be set. Currently it’s set on the extension at 0.1 FIRO. It will be an independent community project funded by firo core, so I will be owning them. Transition of ownership can be arranged. No we won’t be spamming with 0.000001 FIRO Will be also implementing a rate limit global and per tipper on X API, [9/30/2026 4:30 AM] Nrsimha: 4) here I meant more li
Minor release. Firominer v1.5.2 is out which includes adding a coinbase message directly to the GUI.

How do you plan to establish trust between the two P2P parties and handle disputes or fraud? Isn’t some form of escrow, arbitration, or trusted third party ultimately required? How would this work while keeping the platform genuinely non-custodial?
Thanks, I have provided more information above
Thanks Reuben, appreciate the quick reply. To provide more detail for the community. What we’re solving Privacy-focused networks like Firo lose both privacy and adoption when users have to rely on centralized exchanges to move between fiat and crypto. This hits hardest in the Global South, where peer-to-peer trading is a main way people get crypto, and many are pushed onto centralized platforms with a poor user experience. Onboarding into a currency like Firo with fiat today has four main problems: Custody risk and account freezes: To sell on a centralized P2P desk, users first deposit their assets into the exchange’s wallet. If the platform freezes the account, the funds are stuck until the exchange releases them. Privacy loss: Most centralized exchanges don’t support shielded deposits, so users must give up the privacy Firo is built to protect just to cash out. The KYC barrier: Centralized fiat ramps require heavy identity checks and often reject users from emerging regions where P2P trading is needed most. DEX blind spot: On-chain DEXs are good for crypto-to-crypto swaps but can’t process bank transfers, payment apps, or local cash. The result is less financial sovereignty, less accessibility, more dependence on centralized infrastructure, and less economic activity inside the Firo ecosystem. Our solution: Local Money We’re building a non-custodial P2P fiat on/offramp where users buy and sell crypto directly with each other using local payment methods, without depositing a
