Maximum Vibe-Coding, Telling Claude to fix the BTRFS RAID56 write hole

As a native English speaker, I found a lot of Fable’s output to be incomprehensible. Superfish1000: Also I have found that a significant amount of this generations general rambling to be quite incomprehensible. I’m still trying to tell if that’s because I’m just dumb or because it genuinely is somewhat gibberish. I could also be that I’m doing a lot of this work at the end of the day after work and I’m passing out at the keyboard. It often feels like the general rambling is all buzz words, acronyms, abbreviations, code snippets, and short hand, which makes it almost unreadable. It’s like someone is explaining how to play 4D chess with board positions and and code.

How far are local models from Opus 5.5? Even on expensive hardware?

Someone in my city is trying to sell this RTX 6000 beast with 700GB+ of ram. They probably should have spent more on RTX 6000s and less on ram. The description says, even with all that compute, you’re only going to be able to support a single user and not a team of people. I just ordered a 5090 Thermaltake pre-built since they’re now less than the cost of a 5090 by itself (probably due to buying bulk at the former prices), but I don’t plan on using it for LLMs. I plan on using it for better video generation (10 seconds takes ~2 hours on my AMD R9700 with Wan 2.2), mashie: I run 4 Sparks myself, this is an Apple free zone. Did you buy those at the old prices? That’s like $16k worth of compute, right? (Which would be more like $30k right now?) Is it worth it?

TheMead: I don’t think that CPU has functioning integrated graphics, Then simply add $35 for an 8600G… pcpartpicker.com AMD Ryzen 5 8600G 4.3 GHz 6-Core Processor (100-100001237BOX) - PCPartPicker AMD Ryzen 5 8600G 4.3 GHz 6-Core Processor (100-100001237BOX) Now… Going any further than that, and you are looking at an Intel Arc A380+9600X as best bang for buck. I would spec a full system like this right now. I understand this is way above your budget. So if you have a decent PSU… Use that. If you already got a good SSD… Use that. Can your PC cooler be reused? Use that. Mix and match to fit your budget, but this is what a brand new system would cost you. I hope it gives a little guidance at least! Noob setting up a HomeLab in a culvert, underground, off grid in Alaska

First Burn Our first burn of the season. Had a string of sloppy overcast weather (and some hail) and I have been running AI non-stop for a project and so the batteries are low. Instead of running the generator to stretch us until the sun comes up, we instead threw a log on the fire. We moved our diesel Toyo install to next summer so wood is our only backup this winter. Turned the electric heat pump off, got old smokey going, and as it heats up and the catalytic converter kicks in, the smoke ceases from the chimney and burns up in the stove. It amazes me that our spruce forest this year provided us with chocolate covered spruce tips, spruce salt, spruce syrup, spruce tip ice-cream and then provided the wood for our kitchen build and shelves and a variety of of other things, and now it’s keeping us warm. Thank you spruce forest.

II don’t think that CPU has functioning integrated graphics, and the GPU in the old system as been on legacy support since 2018. So I’d need to add a GPU to that list.

It is quite obviously worded that way to get exactly this kind of response (“it will be limited”) and to gain compliance, before they have it scanning your retina and taking a DNA sample. There is a zero percent chance that this technology does not become full blown identification and surveillance to use the internet.

Is it worth me adopting IPv6 yet at home?

On going draft update (2023) to RFC6724: draft-ietf-6man-rfc6724-update-25 - Prioritizing known-local IPv6 ULAs through address selection policy New recommendation on the address precedence: Known-local ULA > GUA to GUA > IPv4 to IPv4 On local area networks, ULA will have highest precedence. Only Linux has implemented it so far. Apple operating systems still rely on its neat Happy Eyeballs algo. Windows is Wild West, up to application layers. Known-local is a fd00::/8 defined for your LAN.
