Can0 Issue in SK

I’ve just built a new system with Pi5 and McArthur hat. Everything seemed OK until I found no nmea2000 data in SK. I’ve checked all the settings as per documentation and I can’t see anything wrong. All apps updated and system updated after install. In SK the message I see next to can0 is ‘Failed to load canSocket module. Cannot find module …/build/Release/can. The can leds on the hat are both blinking which I assume means data is being passed so hopefully the hat is OK. I’m reasonably sure the wires are correct even though the drop cable I used has different colours to normal nmea2000 protocol. I belled them out to identify which was which from the pins. Any help gratefully received. I’m not great at Linux commands do if it involves checking things in terminal I need learner guidance!

HelmUI - Modern UI for OpenPlotter/SignalK/MQTT

Hello, everyone. I love the idea of open source navigation system for the boat with all the additional stuff. The only downside for me always was the way it all looks. In my personal opinion it all looks very outdated for UI, so I decided to put it together to somewhat usable dashboard type system. I called it HelmUI, may rename it later, but this is not important. Take a look and let me know, should I spend time to make it available to install and maybe make a SignalK plugin out of it, so it would be available to install for everybody who wants to do it? I hope it will help or impress someone! https://github.com/ekhavana/HelmUI

First Season with OpenPlotter

So we are coming to the end of the season here, just one more weekend trip I think, and it's been the first with OpenPlotter running. I thought I'd comment on how it's gone. Last winter I upgraded the electronics onboard, replacing everything but the wind sensor. That meant almost everything was on NMEA 2000, but the wind and exhaust sensors were NMEA 0183. The Pi handles the conversion for these. The MacArthur HAT has the IMU and power module on it. I had been using OpenCPN on an Android tablet previously on this boat as the plotter, so the plan was to use that tablet with the Pi, and feed it Signal K data. Once I'd started playing with things though, I switched to using AVNav mainly on this tablet, and that has been excellent. The good things: Things have been mostly very stable. OpenPlotter was easy to set up. I've had great fun tinkering. I have really loved AVNav, once I'd got my head around it and configured. Having the ability to access the same system from mulitple devices has been a game changer. I only used OpenCPN once and that was when I first time had the router I'm using drop out and reset, and it was not at a good time to trouble shoot things so I just quickly ran the app on the tablet to get the chart data back - that was quicker than digging out the paper chart The not so good things: The IMU has been very disappointing. Heel angle spot on, however I have not been able to get the heading to remain locked in. Every day, it either starts off being well out and

Could new imgs be made please?

Dear All, Having run into the socketcan issue, lost npm when trying to follow possibly outdated fix instructions, starting from scratch again with the OP4 stable img, but finding that it isn't possible to use that as-is due to running into the pypilot install issue and not being literate enough myself to climb out of all those holes... would it be possible for the pi imgs referred in the documentation links to be updated with versions that work out of the box please? I do want to use OP for the advantages of low power, joining different systems together and lot of functionality, however it seems to me a bit too hard to achieve atm! With regards, Simon

Get Candidates error on new install

Dear computer bods more literate than I (I try my best).. I ran into the SocketCan error when I tried updating my packages when I was mucking around trying to get the data rate of my system down, then I ended up with npm error when trying to follow various fix instructions, so I started again, with current downloaded "stable" Headless img. When I press Get Candidates in Apps, I get: Err:10 https://deb.nodesource.com/node_18.x bookwork release 404 Not Found Does this matter? Should I continue configuring or do I need to fix this first and how best on Pi 5 img? Thanks!
