've been doing a lot of playtesting with the Sboys3 driver (Dream Air, Win 11/5090), and comparing it to Pimax EVO. IMO, the Sboys3 driver really improves the base headset image if you apply one of the sharpening filters (I prefer the Luma one), but I’ve also observed using native Pimax EVO / PimaxXR driver gives great results with better performance than Sboys3 in certain games. One surprising thing I’ve found: setting the Pimax EVO sharpening to a high level (at least 0.8, even 1) seems to give a visibly better image using Pimax OpenXR, even though normally setting the sharpening level this high in Quest games results in visible aliasing (fuzzies)…maybe it has something to do with the DA micro OLED panels or with Pimax’s software? Here’s a quick summary of my results (note also that I’m using DLSS set at either Quality or Auto for games that support it): Cyberpunk 2077 VR (Luke Ross) - Sboys3 is the clear winner here, with unbelievablly good visuals and good performance. SteamVR motion smoothing OFF, RealVR rendering at 1/3, PPD slider at 33. MSFS 2024 - I get a much better experience using Pimax Play / EVO. Motion smoothing generates too many artifacts so it’s set OFF. One thing I’ve found is that the Pimax sharpening really seems to improve the overall image, so I’ve got it set to 1…so far I haven’t noticed any bad sharpening artifacts. I really tried to get the Sboys3 driver working with MSFS using SteamVR motion smoothing, but it generates conspicuous wavy artifacts on
Thanks. that is what i’m discussing with pimax. and have ordred the dongels yesterday. but still the dongles in the HMD shod had ben working.. they did in the first HMD i did recive but the rigth lense was bad in that one
My Dream Air connect to pimax sword, Index and Vive Pro without issues, I guess I got two good radios in there. A bad radio will certainly cause connection problems and stability problems. I would try external USB dongles to see if connection can be resolved, not ideal but a solution
well.. i’m a bit sad and disappointed about the last reply i got from support trying to solve this issue… hi,Thomas Hedegaard Based on our engineer’s assessment, we must be transparent with you: a further headset replacement would be required, but it may still not fully resolve the issues you are experiencing. In addition, we sincerely apologize — under our current replacement policy, the same device is eligible for a maximum of two replacements , and a third replacement is not possible. This policy is designed to serve as many users as fairly as possible given limited resources, and we fully understand the significant inconvenience this causes you. We sincerely apologize that we are unable to offer another headset replacement due to this policy. We also apologize for the recurring device issues and for the time and effort you have spent in multiple communications with us. As an alternative, you may choose to return the device for a store credit and place a new order . Would you be willing to accept this arrangement? Please let us know how you would like to proceed. If you have any questions, we’re here to help . so not i’m in conversation with pimax about maybe resolving it by external USB tracking dongles.. it can be an solution.. but to bad that they seem not to be able to make a Dream air LH where it works…
It’s always exciting to get a message that your package has arrived. It’s still a novelty to travel to a postal locker, show it my phone and the anticipation before one of the doors pops open Once the package was freed I headed home and unboxed, revealing a very suave looking black box It was surprisingly large (the box) and easily slid open to reveal the new face mask - wide fit For comparison, next to the original (missing the metal frame insert More soon…
Yes they were tracked on ver 1.X
I did. The answer, for the record, is no. You cannot purchase just the breakout box alone. You have to buy a replacement 2D head strap assembly with the side arms and integrated cable which includes the link box. The cost is $199 USD.
I actually reversed steamVR to the previous version in steam but I got the same issue, and Iracing got an update at the same time as steamVR so it might be a game dependent thing. Let me know if you find a solution!
Using the EVO?
Have you tried the latest 2.0.4 build?
There’s no upgrade discount available from 8KX.
