Audio and two serials?

Hello, I'm working on a radio project with a Teensy 4.1. At the moment, I use the "dual serial" option. One serial is used for the Arduino IDE, and the second one - to remote control the radio. I'd like to have the radio also audio-communicate with my computer via the USB. In the Arduino pulldown menu, there is "Dual Serial", and there is "Serial + midi + audio". There is no option for "Dual Serial + Audio". Is there a technical reason why that can't be done - or did the list of... Read more

Device recommendation to control a USB sharing switch.

Hi All - I just discovered Teensy's and think one might help with a control project. I have a 4-to-4 USB 3.0 Peripheral Sharing Switch (HBS304A24A) that cycles through connected computers using a physical press button. I want to replace the switch with a device that can listen on one of the usb ports to receive and respond to simple commands. I want to: 1) use a USB-A connected keyboard initiated shell script to send an instruction to a usb connected (listening) device. 2) have the usb... Read more

i.MX RT1064 Custom Board – SGTL5000 Codec Not Responding Over I2C

Hi, I have designed a custom PCB using the MIMXRT1064 processor and the SGTL5000 audio codec. For the SGTL5000 circuit, I followed the standard/reference SGTL5000 schematic. The connections between the RT1064 and SGTL5000 are as follows: LPI2C1_SCL → GPIO_AD_B1_00 LPI2C1_SDA → GPIO_AD_B1_01 SAI1_MCLK → GPIO_AD_B1_09 SAI1_RXD → GPIO_AD_B1_12 SAI1_TXD → GPIO_AD_B1_13 SAI1_RX_BCLK → GPIO_AD_B1_11... 3.3v 250mA budget question.

I'm running a Teensy 4.1 with a 3.5" Estardyn screen running off the T4.1 3.3v. When I measure the screen on the bench I can tell that the BL is driving from the 3.3V VCC and the BL pin is just an enable input. I measure about 58-60mA for the backlight at 3.3v. I also have a couple of GPS modules and an RS485-UART converter on the T4.1 3.3v. I haven't measured the full load yet but am budgeting about 55mA per GPS module at acquisition at max, and about 35mA for the 485 transmitting (and... Read more

USB interface for multi channel outputs, not just stereo

Hi folks, I'd like to update the USB audio for Teensy 4 to handle more than 2 channels (starting with 4 but eventually 8) which it only currently supports, so that I can play 4/8 different channels from my computer and use them as outputs on the Teensy. It seems that some people have worked on it: https://forum.pjrc.com/threads/60557-48kHz-8i80-USB-Audio But never got to the end of it. I've been trying as well, but I'm a bit stuck as I don't really understand what the code does in... Read more

New lwIP-based Ethernet library for Teensy 4.1

Hello, all. I went ahead and made an lwIP-based Ethernet library for the Teensy 4.1. Some details about it: This currently is not a complete drop-in replacement for the Arduino-style Ethernet API. (But it’s reasonably close.) The README details the differences. I haven't yet decided the direction I want to take, because I don't love the global variable-style approach, plus there are some things that are underspecified. This may end up being something completely different, or it may... Read more

LVGL compatible DMA enabled LCD drivers for Teensy 4.x

I noticed the existing drivers require an entire framebuffer to be used to support DMA. I retooled and stripped these drivers so that they can do partial updates to the display, the way libraries like LVGL and htcw_uix expect. They don't do anything but initialize, rotate, and send bitmaps to the display. The SSD1351 currently can't be rotated to 1 or 3 without scrambling the output. Not sure why yet, but it works otherwise, and since it's 128x128 i don't consider it a show stopper. One... Read more

TeensyESP32C3Programmer - Flash ESP32-C3 via Teensy USB Host (Beta)

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a project I've been working on: TeensyESP32C3Programmer . GitHub Repository: TeensyESP32C3Programmer What it does: This sketch allows a Teensy 4.1 to program and flash an ESP32-C3 board directly. How it works: It does not use standard GPIO pins for serial communication. It leverages the Teensy USB Host port to connect directly to the ESP32-C3 USB interface. It handles the automatic bootloader reset... Read more

Noisy square wave with Teensy 4.1 & PCM5102A

I have been trying to clean up the output coming from a generic PCM5102A chipset. When I output a triangle/saw the wave is mostly noise free, except near a pulse width approaching zero (sawtooth). The square wave is incredibly noisy with digital noise. I have grounded the FLT/DEMP/FMT pins and looped the chip's 3.3V to XSMT. I have a 470 Ohm/2.35nf RC low pass filter on the output of the L channel. R goes to ground since I am not using it yet. I have also tried sending the signal into a... Read more

Certificate of Volatility

Hi, I've searched the forums and the website and did not see one. Does there exist a certificate of volatility for the teensy 4.0 or 4.1? This is a document which specifies all of the memory on the board and whether or not it is volatile or otherwise clearable. Thanks, and sorry if there's a GIANT link to it that I just haven't seen.

tycmd-wrapper - a Python wrapper for tycmd

Hey everyone, I needed a Python wrapper for tycmd and came up with this: https://pypi.org/project/tycmd-wrapper/ ... not sure how useful this is, but it also doubles as a quick way to install the platform specific tycmd binary: pip install tycmd-wrapper ... Here's a little example in Python: Python: import tycmd import logging logging.basicConfig(level=logging.INFO) tycmd.upload('blink.hex', port='/dev/ttyACM0') Resulting in: Code: INFO:tycmd:Uploading to board...
