So I wired in my Squier Strat with a single EMG 81, and the only 25K pot I had lying around is a push pull that came with the Fishmans I have. I just wired the pot part for now, though, and the push pull section doesn't do anyting. I have it there, so I was wondering what fun ideas you guys had so that I could get some mileage of it? I can think of either a blow switch or a killswitch. A blow switch... I don't really know how much I'd gain from that since the pickup is already just going... Read more

My bassist has a 5 string Squier Classic Vibe Jazz Bass, with a stock preamp. Not plugged in, all strings have the same volume. Plugged in, either passive or active, the D string of both pickups is louder than the other strings. Is it the preamp (even in passive?) Could it be *both* pickups (unlikely)? How could we go about troubleshooting this?
Reliable magnets dealers in Europe up to date? I have problems finding one who assures correct magnetization
For years, I felt the Air Norton was my 'to go' pickup. It is fat in the neck position, great for leads, but retains some clarity under high gain. It's got a lot of crunch in the bridge position: open, cutting, a bit clear but not bright and a chewy midrange for leads. Yeah, the Air Norton was my 'to go' pickup. It was just a bit boring, lacking in dynamics and was overall servicable but not great. I went on to other pickups I love but never one that kept me as engaged as the Norton. Then... Read more

I'm not sure what to do with them. I'm open to certain trades or possibly selling them. Vintage MJ wound '59 set. They're too good for me.
Could someone please help me with the wiring of my HSS strat? PICKUPS: The humbucker is a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates and the single coils are Fender Texas Specials. AUTOSPLIT: I want the humbucker to auto-split in position 2. SWITCH: Fender 5-Position Strat®-Tele® Super Switch (Model #: 0992251000) VOLUME: I am using the Fender Dual 500K/250K Split Shaft Potentiometer so the humbucker sees 500k and the single coils see 250k (Model #: 0990847000) SINGLE COIL... Hi all, have a bery very bright R7 goldtop. The unpotted custombuckers in it are squealchy. Ive tried aldriches as well and they were very ice picky. I play rock and hard rock, 80s hair metal etc. Ive thought about aph-1 set, 57 classic in neck and the 57+ in the bridge, ive also read custom custom in the bridge but heard that could be bright as well. What would you guys recommend for both neck & bridge?
Hey, Got a Telecaster HH with binding from Japan and trying to figure out more about it. Details: HH configuration. Pickup routes look factory / standard Tele control plate. Anyone seen something similar or can help identify what this might be? Thanks!
What's everyone's opinion on coil-splitting a Duncan Invader set? I've read that the Invaders are great in parallel but seems to be mixed on coil-splits. I'd like to know before I order a couple of push-pull pots. It will be on a 2013 Gibson LP Special faded Sent from my 2201116PG using Tapatalk
I have found contradictory information on phase relations. I'm under the impression that the standard phase relationship for pickups is in-phase (out-of-phase produces "unwanted" or less usable tones) and that in-phase requires adjacent coils to be opposite polarity. It seems that all the humbuckers I have dealt with have one coil's polarity North and the second coil's polarity South, resulting in an in-phase relationship. Since the guitar I'm working on has two humbuckers, standard in-phase... Read more
I had another thread on here, where I eventually discovered that I was confused as to which pickup in my guitar I was playing through. I know, how the heck can that happen. Rather than explain it again, I'll just say that it did. Anyhow ...... The pickups are the hot rodded humbucker set. Pretty much loving the JB, except it's a little icy at times. I've been doing some research for cures for that, and it seems that a 2M or a 2.2M resistor on the JB's volume pot may fix that. So I'm going... Read more
