I have been keeping discus on and off for a 20+ years. Always made my own beef heart. Never a problem. I start with two hearts, some salmon, garlic leaves, vitamins. Trim the heart extremely well. Grind in meat grinder. Then mix in with flake food in a food processor. Again never a problem. But in the last few batches over 6 months or so I'm getting, hard to say, but a white fibrous left over floating in the bottom. Almost a a cotton texture to it. Easy to suck up but then there are smaller pieces floating around I can't get to. Anybody ever experience this and how to correct. John

Recently got a foodsaver vaccum sealer and am absolutely loving it. So naturally I want to try sous vide cooking. Remember seeing Jacob mention he cooks steak sous vide. Anyone else? Tell me all about it here. A sous vide rookie wants to know.

Hey Guys have any of you ever tried buying fish from AquaFindr https://aquafindr.com/product-category/freshwater/ its very similar to aquabid. Just curious to hear any feedback . Noticed there is a guy on their from Starkville MS selling Discus https://aquafindr.com/store/aquamig-...5-discus-fish/ Tom

I noticed last week that one of my wild discus had some white pop so yesterday I set up the hospital tank. I started medicating with Metrocleanse and salt @ 1 Tbs per 2 gallons. I also noticed that it was very thin and a growth on it's guill. Should I do more for that growth than salt? All other discus seem to be OK in the 120-gallon tank but time will tell. 20260925_100710.jpg 20260925_100657.jpg

This is the "Blue Lady" a Bronze statue that sits in Yantic Cemetary in Norwich CT. She has had a rough life. In 2010 she was stolen and chopped into pieces to be sold for scrap metal. She was recovered though and put back together and is now back where she belongs. I'D read about her years ago and always wanted to try and find the cemetary.. yesterday we found it. The irony is the cemetary is right across from the house my wifes grandmother lived in. I had been there many times when we were younger. Visited a state park yesterday and there were a lot of Marsh Birds out and about. Snowy egrets and Great Egrets gather in the salt marsh this time of year to fuel up for migration. Its can be a pretty intensive competition among them. This marsh is pretty expansive and not my favorite spot to photograph as you are just so far away. Good shots are very hard to get. Saw the following Battle Royale. Shots are cropped. The whole battle was over in a blink of an eye. al

from time to time I look and see various sites to see who has what even though I don't have discus anymore. and noticed this morning Chicago Discus is selling off all their equipment this weekend. sucks cause they was the nearest to me from ohio I was thinking going over there pick out my own fish when I get back in the hobby . now there's like no quality asian discus importer bringing in cool stuff in USA .. the market shark to nearly no one. sad to see the discus hobby become nearly extinct.. wonder if its because the economy ppl don't have so much throw away money these days.. anyway RiP Chicago Discus.. you will be missed

hi guys. need to move large breeder pair from main tank to dedicated breeder tank. could use help in buying a good quality net that minimizes chance of injury in transfer and large enough to ease the stress of netting the discus fish.
