Omaha area has gotten 9" in the last 24 hours. Sounds like there are reports to the south of 11"+ and more heavy amounts to the north. Going to delay harvest with all of this. I have also heard reports of corn beginning to sprout on the cob again!

Went out on my last grouse/partridge hunt for the year. Now I’m shifting focus to getting ready for the pheasant opener. Despite not pulling the trigger, it’s still nice being out in beautiful country with two moderately decent dogs lol.

Hey everyone. Going to be heading back to Kansas again opening weekend. I love hunting the state and always meet great people every year. I am curious though on what everyone is shooting in 20g and 12g. Last year I was shooting 20g 3” 1 1/4oz 5 shots. One of the guys we met said he was shooting 20g 2 3/4” 7.5 target load and killing pheasant and quail. Even with me shooting 5 shot we had some cripples the dogs had to get and I couldn’t imagine using sporting clay loads. Feel like most of the... Read more

Was able to get into a lot of scaled quail out west yesterday. It was a blast! We had young setter with us for just a couple hours before it got hot. Within the first few minutes she went on point and it was picture perfect. Wish I had it on video. Most of the birds were taken without the dog but that first point and flush was the highlight of the day IMO. ... Read more

I figured I would post my initial review of the Tetra products I purchased, as it may help others with their decisions. Novel ahead. Let me know if you have any questions. Background: 27 y/o, good hearing. I would say that my hearing isn't excellent, but I feel like my awareness in the field is on the higher end, so I feel like I hear things others do not. I don't think this is due to the ability of my ears though. I do not have tinnitus. I purchased these devices for about $1100, plus $75... Read more

Shot in the dark here, Im specifically looking for a 20 gauge ithaca flues in good usable condition. Not looking for a graded wall hanger, just one to hunt with. If anyone is looking to thin their collection, give me a shout. Thanks, Bryant

I am planning on spending a couple of days later this week in the mountains chasing grouse. I ran into them hunting elk 40+ years ago. This is my first time specifically hunting them. From what I can tell, I should be hunting lower elevations. Any types of cover or anything else that I should be looking for?

Refresh my memory... Where could a person have pheasant hunted in SD last weekend? Is it the pen-raised farms?

Looking for something to slip on and off to get out with dog.

How far have you trained your pointing dogs. are they steady to wing? or Wing and Shot? I'm having trouble with my young dog, getting to staedy with the shot.

South Dakota has a youth season that just started last Saturday and runs through the upcoming Sunday October 4th. So the little bit of hunting that will get done over the next week will possibly result in some real reports of the bird population. Good luck to the kids and be safe to all. We will be going out Thursday morning and hunting 3 days, we will be sporting 5 kids carrying a gun ages 17-12 and 6 dogs of all ages. Gonna be tough shooting with the camera but its always fun. I will... Read more
