I’m working on an Apple IIc monitor, originally it had an issue with slow rolling vertical linearity shifts. I thought would be a bad capacitor somewhere but all have checked out fine. Later a new issue appeared where retrace lines became visible on the picture. I checked components mentioned by the Sam’s guide for the retrace line issue and all were good. I also checked the tube with my tube tester to see if there were internal shorts, but all was good there too. Retrace lines are... Read more

Just wondering what could be causing this peculiar issue... I have a 30Mb Ades hard drive connected to an IMSAI 8080 machine. I run ZCPR, and I normally boot from floppy drive A: I then type 'C:' and the Ades spins up, and I get the C prompt. Lately it just hangs before I get the prompt. I found if I do a reset from the front panel and try again it works. Once I do get in, everything seems normal - no issues reading/writing files. Anyone ever come across a similar issue? This is an 80's... Read more
Selling close to 150 vintage brochures from the early 1980's
I finally found my DeskJet 1600C. I noticed someone on ebay was selling a lot of 1600C parts, so I looked up the company. That took me to this website: Computer Trade Exchange Inventory The site looks like it hasn't been updated in years, and there's no way to search it, but I sent a message, and got an immediate response. They were very helpful, and a week later I had a 1600C on my doorstep. It was very well packed, and in immaculate condition. I put some print cartridges in... Read more
I powered on the server after I picked it up almost two months ago at VCF West and while it seems the original OS is still intact I have one of the two drives in the RAID 1 that are dead. It's a 20gb Seagate U Series condom drive. I think I offloaded my stock of those before COVID and don't have any direct replacements I can match up and rebuild the RAID with. How much work was it to upgrade the entire system with two matched replacements?
Hello all, I recently picked up a IBM 5160 and 5271 and have a few questions to ask the experts about some parts that were in these computers. I am planning on keeping the 5160 and selling the 5271, so my questions are mainly related to which parts I should save for my own computer and which I should put into the 5271 I will be selling! My first question is about a hard drive one of the machines came with. I can't tell what it is as I was unable to find any model number anywhere on it... Read more
Hi all. I have a couple emates I'm trying to build batteries for and running into problems. I got 2000 mah batteries with tabs, soldered together like the originals, transferred the thermistor over that tested good and the temp sensor that also tested good yet it doesn't recognize the battery. I put the battery pack on the bench supply to charge it up a bit and got it to around 5.8v which should be enough yet the emate just doesn't see it. Any thoughts?
Hi all! I just found from my new house these two old computers. Does anyone know anything about them and most important, what kind value they have. I haven't try them on. Also I only found computers, no monitor or keyboard.
After playing with 6800 systems for awhile. I just crossed over and got a IMSAI 8080 system at a good price. The cabinet and front panel are in excellent shape. The catch is every board inside is not IMSAI, They are what I assume are a mix of better boards. Some examples. MicroSprite Video Board Microdynamics Corp Spectrum Video Board CompuPro Godbout Electronics 1980 VB3 Video Board Solid State Music Video Board 1979 California Computer Systems Boards Model 2820 Z80 CPU card Model...
