Funny how things turn out. Legrande was the stallion I chose for Amber. She went there to be covered and Mylo was conceived there. A few weeks ago Myka appeared on the Legrande stud page as her owner planned to start her education. Lottie had just been retired. A friend said to another friend: ‘AE is going to buy that horse’ before I even knew she existed. After I posted on FB wanting breeder/producer recommendations, someone told me about myka. I went to view, fell in love and decided... Read more

Hi all, I’m after some help with pricing my horse for sale. The market is a minefield & I’m not sure what’s to price her at. She is a 15.1hh Cob X 17 year old mare 95% hacking all her life Full history known - I’m her 2nd owner from a foal She is a perfect happy hacker & pleasure ride horse. Leg in each corner type, more woah than go but will step up a gear & have a good gallop. More on her toes hacking alone. Enjoys pleasure rides & has previously done XC & schooled well. She hasn’t... Has anyone's horse been diagnosed and if so can you tell my symptoms they may have had in the lead up? I posted recently about my 20yr old rescue boy loosing a lot of condition lately. 6 weeks on now we are definitely on the right road but I have noticed he is finding it more difficult to get down for a roll(Will abort mission once on his knees) He has damaged his stable door twice now(We think from having difficulty getting up or down) He is also very unstable in hind end when walking, and... I think we all know what amazing things Dame Esther did for so many charities; but does anyone else remember the campaign she led through the That's Life programme that started off the journey to the modern safety standards for riding hats?
Almost daily I have to disinfect and scrub out the big field water trough because birds are pooing in it (morning and evening.) Ive put out "bird buckets" specifically for their use but of course they like to poo in the fresh clean water for the horses. We've got CDs on baling twine hanging above it and have been only partially filling so we arent wasting so much water. What else can we do? Theres nowhere under cover we can put water conveniently for the horses to access. #ihatepigeons
We have a 5 year old mare we have had for 6 months. She can be slightly nervous but very affectionate and built good trust with her. Is under treatment for mild ulcers. She has started turning bum at us in stables or barging over to side which needs nipped in the bud now, usually caused by grooming. Don’t want to punish a horse who’s got some discomfort, but I can see she is also challenging boundaries. Any advice welcome
Do any yard owners on here have field shelters for their liveries? I’ve been on 12 yards and only one had field shelters. My boy is out in torrential rain tonight and his winter coat isn’t quite through. Way too warm in the day time to rug. A field shelter would be so perfect!
Hi all, I've been lurking on and off for an absolute absolute age and have finally decided to get involved once again Unfortunately though, my original email is non existent now and I can't remember my password so I've had to reinvent myself as "Forzaisle". I don't know if anyone here now was around back then but at the time I was more involved I initially had a horse called Cruise (racing name Forzaisle - see the link there). During my time posting I got Sally (show name When Wishes Come... Read more
I'm interested in learning about the racehorse Captain Frisky, ca 1730s, owned by Viscount Howe, of Notts (died 1735). I'm assuming that since this was before The Jockey Club was founded there may not be any pedigree records so far back. I'm just interested, since we do have records of the get of the Darley Arabian, the Godolphin Arabian/Barb, and the Byerley Turk.
Moving area so researching any good full livery yards between Windsor & Reading ? - professionally run yard - all year good turnout (not just an hour a day) - friendly/ no politics or clique's - no skimping on forage ! - good hacking - ridden livery when needed Looking for recommendations & why ? Thank you
IT'S TIME!!! Time for perfectly respectable HHO members to transform from your everyday, above-average internet stalkers into fully fledged, supercharged Secret Santa sleuthing elves. MI5 ain't got nothing on us. Posting histories will be trawled. Innocent remarks made six years ago will suddenly become VERY IMPORTANT CLUES. Horses, dogs, hobbies, eating habits and questionable purchases will be investigated. Bah humbugs will discover Christmas spirit and those of us who are already... Read more
