I'm processing a large number of PDFs by making rules for them in Hazel. I have Hazel on my macbook built-in display, and finder and pdfgear on my external display. This allows me to navigate files, OCR pdfs, and (ideally) view opened PDFs. However, when I double-click a PDF to open it in preview, Preview opens on the built-in display which covers my maximized Hazel window! Has anyone else been using Preview to edit downloaded PDF files only to have Preview save the edited file with an unknown owner password? I use markup tools to make comments, but after saving, the file icon shows a lock icon in the middle and an "owner password" is required to reopen. My login password does not work. This is new behavior. The original PDF file is unlocked, opens normally, and allows me to make changes, however, the File/Edit Permissions menu item is grayed out. If I use... Read more

I have 2 screens connected to my Mac Mini. Once in a while, I open about 150 PDFs (one at a time) to decide which folder to save them in, and what name to give them. I open them one at a time. The PDFs open on the left of the left screen. To save my neck, I would like the PDFs to open on the right hand side of the left screen. Can I get Preview to do that, or can I buy an app that would automate this? Thanks

Is anyone else seeing this with the Ultra 4? My Outdoor Run distance in Apple Fitness is consistently longer than the distance calculated from the watch’s actual GPS/GPX data. Would anyone please be so kind as to help me here? I am totally confused by the lock screen settings. I've dug around and can't figure it out. Is there any way to get a background color behind these widgets? I'm also not sure why the Precip widget has some black, the sunset time has some blur and the weather has nothing --- bugs? So I have an iPP, and long ago, an Air 2. Earlier this year I sold my pro for a couple reasons, and wound up just going with a base model. Even though I use my iPad a LOT, the base works for most everything I use it for. That said, I REALLY miss the keyboard from the pro (the one for the base model isn’t great), and I miss Face ID. So, the title says it all, but let me get into the dilemma. I’ve always preferred lighter colors after having dark phones for many years. I currently have the 15 Pro Max in Natural Titanium, and my plan was always to get a white one next. Sadly, Apple has discontinued that color again. I don’t really like the Silver because it reminds me of the aluminum iPhone 6. I've been slowly upgrading a mid-2012 non-Retina MacBook Pro (2.5 GHz Core i5 Dual-Core), mostly for my own edification, but also for compatibility with some older software, hard drives, Firewire, and other legacy uses.
