First Boat! Advice?

I am thrilled to finally have purchased my own sailboat. I have been sailing since the womb, and have taught it for a good chunk of my life. I'm 25 and have been looking forward to my own vessel since I can remember. She's a Cal 22. Any advice for a first time owner, and more specifically for... First Boat! Advice?

More Scams

Recently a couple of "too good to be true" posts have come up where someone is shopping for an item and finds a price that is "too good to be true." The come on is pretty professional. A store website is created with thousands of items for unbelievably low prices, in some cases hundreds of... More Scams

One freshwater deck fill or two?

One of the main projects this winter is to plumb water tanks + pump to a sink faucet. Boat: Classic Yachts 26. Usually moored in the summer and trailered home off-season. I'm new to marine plumbing - even just having a sink and drain this summer was a move up in the world from just water... One freshwater deck fill or two?

Electric toilet

I have a Catalina 320 sailboat, and I am planning to replace the old manual toilet with a new electric toilet (Raritan SeaEra QC). The current manual toilet is connected to the intake seacock for seawater. The new electric toilet will use pressurized fresh water from the freshwater tank. The... Electric toilet

Hunter 460 Companion way Sliding glass top removal.

anyone out there ever remove the companion way sliding Glass door/hatch? We just bought our Hunter 460 and this thing is scratched up bad. Id like to remove it and get a new one made. My fear is the slide stops are under the Hood and there is no way to access unless that is removed. Hopefully... Hunter 460 Companion way Sliding glass top removal.

Start battery is not charged by charger on 1997 Hunter P42; is there a way to fix that.?

I have a 1997 Passage 42. The Freedom 3000 charger/inverter does not charge the start battery. The alternator does charge it. I believe the CD player/radio (channels and equalizer settings) and the bilge pump are maintained by the start battery. This wears down the battery when left idle for a... 1981 Sabre 30 Keelbolts

I am looking at buying this model and vintage of boat and was wondering about the keelbolts and what would need to be done if there was a problem and they needed to be replaced. The x-section drawing of the bolt in the owners manual shows that the hex head is embedded down inside the lead of the... 1981 Sabre 30 Keelbolts

Refrigerator Replacement

As a new owner of a Hunter 33, I bought an AC refigerator and an inverter. It trips the breaker. Should I return it for a DC one?

West Marine Classic Dinghy

Looking for any feedback on the West Marine Classic Dinghy. It is a Walker Bay look alike but a bit heavier. I would stow it on my foredeck and use it primarily while cruising the Puget Sound and San Juans...rough beaches are a norm. Thanks.

Where's the wind?

Forecasters here in New England are warning us that a strong Nor'easter will be passing through over the weekend. Interestingly, other forecasters out west a ways, are forecasting Hurricane Polo, with an historic 120 mph jump in maximum sustained winds over a span of just 33... Where's the wind?
