I thought the red crab had more color in the flesh… I was thinking it might be nice to use for apple jelly, if it would bring some color into the product. I made some jelly this year using liberty apples and im pretty happy with the result.
Does anyone grow a great carving pumpkin that has some powdery mildew disease resistance? Need recommendations of what works and will grow hopefully more than 2 on the vine for back ups. I have done Jack-o-lantern last year and this. both times the vines takes forever to start fruiting and I get 2 pumpkins. Kids were thrilled with the beautiful 2 growing, but inspecting this morning I realized one is half rotten. Going to be tears after school. I need to try something different next year. Obviously this is C. pepo which I have sworn off but I have to grow some carvers for the kids… The one still ripening that fingers crossed is fine on its fancy table
Mine have been great some years, it might depend on how much heat we have. Also my tree used to have less sun, there was a big oak in the way. That oak is gone now and they might be getting too baked now. I have a new tree of it which is partly shaded by an apricot, maybe I will keep it that way..
Thank you Mike. DO you know a good source for BET that would ship to Alaska? Is BET hardy to Zone 3?
The boxes look great but a little bit small?
First time growing Kohlrabi Superschmelz Giant White. Might need to thin more.
They should be compatible. I’ve grafted Asian pears to OHxF which is the same species as super market pears. i do think BET is a better rootstock for Asian pears
Marked a few Burmese okra pods for seeds. These are growing in a large container. I will see how they do out in the garden 2027.
Rote Sissi, not very redflesh incide
Asian pears are compatible with the OHxF series, P.Betulifolia, and P.Ussuriensis, and most commonly sold grafted to one of those in the US.
First Watermelon apple, it’s acidic
