Hide user app section from app drawer

I'm not a fan of a cluttered app drawer! :chinscratch: We can already hide, rename, move between sections and change the icons for system apps by editing view.json (We can also move apps from the "Users" section by adding them to view.json - and also assign icons etc) I still have plenty of third party apps and scripts I use regularly that I don't want to permanently see in the app drawer; previously I manually moved them to a sub-folder and back as needed, rebooting my device to see the changes. Cumbersome. After a bit of trial and error I noticed that extensions would still show in the drawer if capitalized (.APP rather than .app) which allows them to be differentiated. Also restarting the system bookshelf.app refreshes the app drawer view without a reboot. I wrote some shell commands to automate the process and added it to my reboot script. Simply rename any user .app file to .APP that you wish to be able to toggle visibility of. Reboot script in the spoiler section below... Spoiler : Code: #!/bin/sh user_prompt=/ebrmain/cramfs/bin/dialog restart_device() { iv2sh SetActiveTask $$ /ebrmain/bin/run_script -clear_screen -bitmap=pocketbook_logo_software iv2sh reboot } restart_bookshelf() { iv2sh CloseTask bookshelf.app sleep 1 iv2sh SetActiveTask `pidof bookshelf.app` exit 0 } rename_apps() { for file in ./*$ext1; do [ -f "$file" ] || continue new_file="${file%$ext1}$ext2" mv "$file" "$new_file" done } toggle_user_apps() { cd /mnt/ext1/applications ext1=.hidden ext2=.APP for f

Calibre MCP-server

Having the possibility to query your local Calibre ebook library from within Claude or Codex is a really nice and useful feature. I therefore wrote an efficient stdin/http MCP server that's easily configurable on your computer or Calibre server. It's a matter of minutes. It offers more functionalities than any other server I have found around. Once it's installed and has indexed your books, Calibre doesn't even need to run. Thanks to a mini local LLM (200Mb), it can also easily answer questions such as "which Calibre books better than others cover the topic of prompt injection and eventually also discuss new evolutions of classic software engineering?" to your library of ebooks. Inside, it hosts a miniLLM (200Mb) which allows querying in any language, whichever one is used for the book. Figures are also extracted and reported in the hosting LLM https://github.com/jumpifequal/mcp-calibre

Missing Check Field

Dear Calibre Developers, First: You do a damn GOOD job with calibre! When converting EPUB-->PDF, there is an important difference, if you convert a single book or multiple ones. When doing bulk conversion, You get a check option: Use existing template (or not). Important, because if you had changed or imported any images, you must UNCHECK this, otherwise the changed images/the new ones do not appear. THis Option does not appear, when you convert a single book to PDF. It is Hidden and is checked, so you cant get the NEW images into your PDF. Attached, the two different prompts. Problem saving settings

Hi, Could someone please tell me why Calibre refuses to save changes to the settings? Could it be due to the latest Windows 11 update? Hello from Vienna

Hi everyone, I've been reading along here for a while and finally signed up. I'm from Vienna, work in IT, and I've been fascinated by E-Ink for years. There's something about a display that just sits there quietly, doesn't glow at you and works better in bright sunlight than any screen. My Kindle Paperwhite goes everywhere with me, and I keep wondering what else these devices could be good for besides reading. Beyond that I have a soft spot for board games, the old classics mostly, chess and nine men's morris and that sort of thing. Looking forward to reading more here.

What is The Cost of a Vision?

What vision have you put on hold? I’m Dr Shabir Satar, author of The Cost of a Vision. I wrote this book for people with an idea, a dream or a purpose they want to pursue—but who feel held back by circumstances, setbacks or doubt. Its message is simple: take the first step. Learn as you build. Keep moving. Through Plan, Persevere, Patience and Prayer, the book explores building with purpose and integrity, overcoming adversity, and creating a legacy that empowers others. Whether your vision is a business, a community project or a personal goal, you don’t need every answer before you begin. 📖 Kindle: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HL1D6FP2 📖 Kobo: https://www.kobo.com/za/en/ebook/the-cost-of-a-vision 📖 Apple Books: https://books.apple.com/us/book/the-...n/id6817482918 What were you born to build? With firmware 6 using the same renderer for both, will kepub go away?

Kobo firmware got good enough for me a while back that I've just stopped updating my devices, since I sideload even my Kobo purchases. So I'm a little behind in the latest Kobo news. But with firmware 6, they will be using the same renderer for ePub and kepub. I'm curious to know if that means ePub will have feature parity with kepubs. And if so, will kobo retire the kepub format?

DR1000S: looking for SDK 4.0, kernel sources and firmware

Hi everyone, I’m working on a fully operational iRex DR1000S running firmware 1.7.1 / Linux `2.6.24-irex #1700`. I already have the historical `DR1000DevImage.tar.bz2`, the old Poky/iRex ARM toolchain and the original “iOn Development Environment” documentation, so I am not looking for the old development VM. What I am mainly looking for is: - **iOn SDK 4.0** - **iOn Sources 4.0** - the exact **iRex ER0200 kernel sources** for the DR1000S, ideally including the original iRex/Freescale patches and build metadata - original `meta-irex` / OpenEmbedded-Poky recipes - original kernel `Module.symvers` / build files - complete **DR1000S firmware 1.7.1** - **DR1000S firmware 2.0 / 2.0 RC3** - especially `update-dr1000s-rc3.zip` - any original iRex firmware recovery tools or documentation Possible kernel source filenames I have found references to are: `linux-er0200-2.6.24-mx.tar.gz` `linux-er0200-2.6.24-irex.tar.gz` I have already successfully experimented with ARM cross-compilation, GadgetFS, PPP, USB Ethernet (`g_ether`), ping and LAN networking, so I’m now mainly trying to recover the original iRex sources and firmware archives. If anyone still has any of these files in an old backup, hard drive, NAS or DVD, I would be very grateful. Checksums or information about the original source of the files would also be extremely useful. Thanks very much! Luca
