411 Himalayan cam shaft question

The stock Himalayan camshaft has mystery parts consisting of disc a spring and pawl or something which the TEC cam does not. My WAG is that the hardware on the cam is some sort of decompressor? Whatever, what is it for and how come the TEC cam does not need it?

Freeway Miles

We’ve all heard over and over how the Classic 350 is a bike best suited to the country roads, and I must admit that I am happiest and my bike performs best in that environment. However, in order to reach greater distances one must eventually use the freeways. I regularly ride the freeways around my home for ten to twenty minute stretches without problem, but have always wondered and ask in all sincerity… HOW LONG HAVE YOU TRAVELED THE FREEWAYS AT 65 + MPH? WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE?

RH crankcase gasket

Has anyone removed the right side crankcase cover on there classic 500 and has the gasket been reusable or is a new gasket required. My cover has never been off and I'm wanting to replace the chain sprocket and adjust the timing gears. 2020 classic 500

Royal Enfield "gets it".

RE "gets it". Most people want a motorbike that "looks cool" to them, has a reliable engine, and a choice of engine sizes to match their comfort level. RE has nailed all those things; a huge choice of colorways compared to any other manufacturer, reliability (plus ease of maintenance), and engine size. Want color choices? RE has 'em. RE engines are now reliable and such simple mechanical devices that they are actually user serviceable. The 350cc single and 650cc twin hit the two sweet spots... Read more

Hello everyone, does anyone happen to know about the very rare 1960 VAX Interceptor 700s?

Hello everyone, I'm a vintage bike fan and have owned many bikes, mostly Japanese but I happen to have stumbled across a 1960 VAX Interceptor. Is anyone here familiar with the vintage bikes? Mine is one of the street registered survivors. My understanding is there is only about 10 complete bikes left of this model. I would love to learn more of their history and the Coopers Motors Dealership from back in the day from people who know or maybe were involved in the scramble racing scene. Hope... Read more

Another Kiwi newbie

Hi there everyone, long time rider(50yrs), Owned just about every 'modern' marque over the years, along with several 'non conformist' ones(eg: Yamaha MT-01). Retired 3years, and knee replacement(plus one waiting) finally made me buy a car again a year ago, changing my 'ride requirements' from daily rider to basically weekends. The HD was really too heavy on the knees, and most 'modern classics' still have footpegs that are not in the traditional 'mid position'(a la 50/60/70's). I was... Read more

New from New Zealand

Hi there from the centre of NZ - my 2021 500 Classic should be delivered next week! This is my third RE, and really looking forward to being back in the saddle.

Tripper Dash's Nav Stinks - Built My Own Nav Device

I hate the Tripper Dash's navigation implementation so much, I prototyped my own small nav device using an ESP32-S3 Touch LCD. It's like the Beeline but better. It's full color, routes, if you swipe the screen it'll show you the weather, a compass, time, and trip data. It has day/night mode and adjustable brightness. I'll be installing a small lithium battery and 3D printing a case for it. It's Bluetooth and runs off a phone app I built. It'll run with the phone screen locked and doesn't... Read more

Kinda new

Hi all. I've been a member for a few years it seems and I've not made a single post. Anyway, I'm in northern Victoria, Australia. Used to own a Signals classic 350 and a Himalayan 411. I've got a Moto Guzzi V7 Corsa in the shed and decided it's time to add to the stable. So, I picked this up this yesterday morning. I didn't even take it for a test ride. There's enough good youtube info that I was convinced it'd make a good second bike. I can't believe how good the stock suspension is... Read more

3 year old SM650 mot failure

Rear reg plate LED not working. Guess they should come on the the daytime lights. Lots of male/female connectors on the rear lights that corrode because of where they are. Are your RE reg plate LEDs ok?
