I have a E94 rotary filing set but this is not leveled. Tried a set of a professional saxophone repairman and the leveling was so easy with his toold-> this Ferrer product isn't worth one penny. Same repairman couldn't level a tonehole with this Ferree set. E97 Rotary Tone Hole Refacing Set Restore level, consistent woodwind tone holes with the E97 Rotary Refacing Set, available in two options for professional instrument repair. www.ferreestoolsinc.com Where did you get your filing set? The set my repairman is using... Professional tone filing set

Love this band so much!!!!! Just makes me happy!!! ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
I have a mouthpiece from China to review that is supposed to be a copy of a Miami Dukoff 8 soprano piece like Kenny G plays. I thought I would review it and do a bit of a Kenny G tune on the sound clip for the review. Honestly, it is really hard to play that beautifully. I recorded for like an hour with many many takes and there was something I didn't like about each one. The mindset is more like classical music to me than jazz actually. Getting the melody just perfect with the vibrato... It's hard to play like Kenny G........
So for September itโs a Herbie Hancock themed thread. I donโt need to tell you what a legend Herbie is and his breadth of compositions is wide and varied. All the classics can be found on YouTube as backing tracks for you to download. If youโre not sure about the process just let me know and I can upload some here for you. Players of all abilities are welcomed. Your track will receive courtesy and respect from all. You donโt have to have a professional recording set up just a phone... Perhaps the palm keys on my horn are a bit longer than standard but I find that using a palm key riser, particularly on the "D" key on tenor, it slides off within a few times of hitting that key. My palm drags down the palm key riser and it slips off. Are there better palm key risers that will stay put under use?
Hey Guys, Just been thinking. It's always been a given that Sax players should expand their skillset to play clarinet and flute to open the doors for as many gigs as possible. I grew up playing Clarinet and learned flute and that got me gigs on Cruise ships. However on land, I've started to pick up many more gigs because I play guitar. I've had no opportunities to play flute or clarinet on the past couple of years. Some of this is regional of course. Some of it is there isn't much show... Do you think Clarinet and Flute are the most relevant doubles still?
I've had a Gemeinhart 3 for awhile now, but the inline keys have been tough on my wrist. So I picked up a student model Haynes Amadeus AF500. Seems well received in the flute community as a quality student level flute with the offset G, and sterling lip plate. There's a local flute choir group in town that takes flautists of all levels, so I thought I would check it out.
Forget about Klangbiscuits, shake weights, and tape. I found this old-school music teacher that will put the hoolie-goolie on your axe. She touches "the object" and your sax and then performs some sort of "Hipgnosis" on them and Bob's your uncle, your sound has much more "Presence". She charges 8,000 quid a session but it's worth every tuppence.
I did a repad for a vintage alto saxophone and all the toneholes are leveled. All the pad cups are leveled. There's no looseness in mechanics and the pads are the right sizes and I'm using shellac. So everything is perfect for padding -> I do the repad with springs on (that's how I've learned to do) and I saw a video in which you should check the leaking without springs -> there shouldn't be any light coming out anywhere. So there was light coming out in some pads. So my question here is... Padding without spring tension
To anyone that may know or have an idea, I have a Buescher 400, bearing the serial number 486933 on the anterior (player facing) side near the bottom. It is in remarkably good condition for how old Iโm assuming it is based on some of selmerโs serial number lists. If you stood it up right and turned the end of the horn to the right, the mouthpiece to the left, and drew a line down the middle of the body of it you would end up with 3.5 big pads on the right (which would be the bell end of the... Buescher 400 Baritone serial 486933
I hope this is the correct forum section for this post. If not, please let me know & I will move it. My son and daughter-in-law are fostering a post-adolescent in Southbridge, MA who wants to play alto. Actually the request came to me from my DIL to look at a FB ad for a el cheapo alto asking what I thought. What I thought was that a much better approach would be to find a good teacher, and rent a decent horn short term, until the kid's talent and true level of interest can be assessed... teacher & rental horn wanted in Southbridge MA
I am an intermediate/advanced player (at least on tenor) and am looking for a decently cheap mouthpiece for my baritone sax. With Steuer 3 1/2s, I have been playing on a student model Yamaha with a microscopic tip opening that really doesnโt help me project and high notes are really weak. On my tenor I use a Vandoren v16 t8 medium chambre with Vandoren jazz cut reeds 2 1/2, which I have found to be a great setup that helps me vary my tone from loud and rough to all soft and ballady. Stuff I... Baritone mpc suggestions for intermediate looking to step up gear
