(Admins, please put this in the private section, as it concerns security) Amazon is forcing “passkeys” on all sellers. This is a “PSA”, as I had to take notes for myself, so I will publish them here. Passkeys present some serious questions to the astute businessperson, and my guess is that this will be replaced by some other scheme when the drawbacks become clearer to Amazon. But we have to survive in the meantime, and the “passkey on a phone” approach, which is the path of least resistance for most people, has a one obvious major drawback. If your phone breaks or is lost, you are royally screwed. People at least break screens all the time. So, we need a secondary approach. The good news is that this is the opportunity to make sure that ALL user accounts on ALL services are put into a password manager, and the password manager is both automatically backed up, and also replicated from laptop to phone to keep both updated. You have likely been forced to pull out your phone, and “use passkey” by pointing the camera at the QR code Amazon presents. This annoying requirement then puts a passkey on your phone, which cannot happen until you implement a password, fingerprint, or face-ID match to open the phone. So, you do that, and add a level of annoyance to every use of your phone. But we will fix that. By creating multiple passkeys for each user account, one on the phone, and one on the laptop or workstation, we can survive the loss or failure of either device, and still do busines

ASV_Vites: … Someone (at Amazon) is smoking the good stuff and I want some. Available all day, every day, right here: Spheres Seattle Spheres The Spheres are a place where employees can think and work differently surrounded by plants
Dogtamer: Guess what happens if you try to ‘close’ that banner, as the “X” web element seemingly implies will be the result? I don’t want to find out. That banner is empty and useless while in the forum. I clicked on the X – whatever is was that started to happen frightened me and I closed my browser. Never to try that again.
These various entities engaged in feeding ISBNs into the pulping machine declare that combined orders are fine. But combined orders are not fine with Amazon. You won’t be able to enter same tracking number for different orders. Once upon a time you could. Then a period of years where the system would refuse, but if you tried again would accept it. Forum reports indicate that now it won’t be accepted.
I can’t speak to books specifically, but on Amazon, each order requires tracking or if the buyer claims INR you are liable for a full refund. If you ship each order separately, and you use Amazon’s shipping, you are covered if the buyer claims INR. If you combine shipments and put the same tracking in multiple orders, you are only covered for the shipment you actually bought shipping for. How comfortable are you gambling the shipping cost vs chance of losing the order?
In the past few days, I’ve been getting a few orders on Amazon going to the Avondale Ave address in Columbus, OH. Tonight I have 5 so far (they’ve been coming in over the past 2 hours). I’ve sent hundreds of books to this address this year through Alibris and they have all been processed correctly, but now they’re making the purchases on Amazon. I have been able to combine them all into one box to save on shipping. The Amazon orders all have the same buyer’s name. Has anyone sent multiple books in the same box to these guys for purchases made through Amazon? Any other site (Alibris, ABE, Biblio) I don’t even hesitate to combine. Am I crazy to try combining them with Amazon purchases? Thanks in advance

I’ve been working to improve my Walmart listings in order to improve their “growth” score or whatever it’s called ever since I found that and saw that they had so many of my items in the wrong category. Once the category got fixed, that meant more fields showed up as “not completed” and some of the fields got filled in by AI and it just wasn’t right. Well, in downloading spreadsheets and uploading the updates, AI is catching color and size errors. I put the size in the title, description, and bullet points…and I haven’t been totally consistent in those fields across the same item. For example, I’d say a runner is 36" x 15" in one spot, and the other spot say it’s 34" x 15" – well Walmart’s AI is catching that. I know I clip copied and pasted a lot of spreadsheets and changed the names etc…sizes, not so much. But yes sometimes the size is an inch different than the other product. Obviously, I’m hoping this all improves everything…but gotta give credit to AI for catching some of the inconsistencies.
