Over the past 4 years I'm really faithful to S&S. 10x10 swings and 10 get ups. Avg 4x a week. Pre-injury I would usually do my heavies 1 or 2 x a week and light the other days. For me heavy was 32kg one handed and light was 24kg two handed. Then after about 3 years I started getting pain. It can feel like general chest pain. First time it happened I thought my heart was in pain and went to cardiologist. Cardiologist said it's not heart. Cardiologist said my heart is... Read more

Total Package Weekly Kettlebell Training Template | StrongFirst If strength and conditioning are equally important to you, this weekly kettlebell training template will serve you well. Includes 3 sample weeks. www.strongfirst.com I’m thinking of giving it go, with a couple of slight changes: 1 - OAPU instead of clean & press on Day 1 2 - Getups to start with in the ballistics days 3 - instead of Snatch Test, snatch practice (not quite settled on how that will look as yet). Anyone have any experience of this protocol?
I want to try A+A training in the future. My current gym have kettlebells but they're all very light (10-12kg). The closest things in my gym that I can think of that generate a full body power are: sled push, battle rope and heavy bag punching (I have no idea how to punch so that's out of the question). I think the sled push can be great choice but want a double check my theory? Have anyone done this before? How do you add other training around it?
Thought I'd start sharing some of Al's essays from Be Well and Strong ; it's his project that contains his training insights and philosophy. The in depth materials are in the forum itself. I've been having good routines using a swing- snatch ladder complex. I think I said it right. 1-2-3 rep ladders..1 swing, 1 snatch, 2 swings, 2 snatches, etc... Should I keep this in an AXE protocol or is it better to finish out the entire complex? Ie... reps on the minute or all out for 30 secinds? Any feedback appreciated.
Clifton Harski, a YouTuber and Insta-fluencer in the kettlebell sphere, popped up on my radar for attempting a 40kg snatch test. I think he quit at 80, then before the 5th minute was up he knocked out maybe another 10. Really cool to see, especially since many hard style lifters think a 24kg snatch test is borderline unreasonable. Anyways, just thought I'd share.
I have been slowly working toward timed Sinister for the last number of years. I'd like to reach the timed Sinister goal while I'm 50. I'll be 50 years old in 8 months. I weigh 155 pounds. I complete the timeless Sinister goal once a week as part of my regular routine. I am not -- and have never been -- considered an athletic freak. What I have going for me is consistency. Here's my question: Are any of you able to complete timed Sinister at age 50+? How about at 155 pounds or less... Read more

Hello all to my fellow lifters and KB practitioners; I write this in hope of hearing from those who have done the snatch test north of 60, knows someone who did it, understands the realities of recovery and the best approach. At my current weight and age of 62 the 20 kg bell is my weight. I can complete most of the standards on the level 1 cert , I have not completed the 5 rep front squat with two 20kg bells yet however.( Have kind of avoided it as I have sore knees from old injuries...I... Some people have a higher share of muscle fiber 1 in their muscles, while other have a higher share of muscle fiber 2. I was wondering if people are changing their cardio training in one direction or another based on what they think or have measured their muscle fiber composition to be ? The reason why I write this is because I am currently reading Marius Bakken's book about running. He has competed in 5000m in the Olympic Games and has rund 5000 m in 13:06. He talks about running... Hi, I just passed my SFG KB 1 Instructors certification and am wondering how to move forward. I’m 53yr old female who runs 4x’s a week. It’s my off season of running, meaning I’m not training for any trail run events right now, I usually start that at the beginning of the New Year. This summer I stepped back from ultras and ran a handful of trail half marathon distances while successfully training for the SFG certification. Actually, I got my second to personal best running time this... Read more
Over a year ago, I lifted the Dinnie Stones. On that trip, I heard about the Inver Stone for the first time. Curiosity struck, but I had no idea how to train for it. Ten months later, at a workshop, I saw cylindrical sandbags—100kg each. I played with one. Within five minutes, I knew it was possible to prepare. That's when I made my main mistake: I should have chosen spherical bags. Training with a spherical bag would have taught me better top-position mechanics. The cylindrical... Read more
