Portobello Road

Popping up to London tomorrow and have in mind spending some time at Portobello Road, probably after 10am (tube from Paddington). I get that it's a bust place on Saturdays but is it just busy or is it 'crammed'? I don't mind a slow pass-through but I can't be doing with a slow-show-shuffle! Anyone with knowledge please?

SD card exif not transferring

SD card out a em10 mk3. Put in iPad via adapter (I’ve tried two iPads). It’s reads in files on iPad. Transfer to photos like I have always done and exif details have gone. Never had a problem until a week or so ago. I can’t remember update, but I wouldn’t bet there wasn’t one. Done the exact same on a Chromebook and exif details are all there. Obviously an iPad problem, anyone know what’s going on or a fix? I’ve done a hard reset, that’s as far as my knowledge goes. Thanks for any help.

GMT watches. Does anyone wear one?

I liked an Explorer II lookalike case, I just liked the look of it, but as I don't need a GMT I fitted an ordinary 3 hand movement to it but as I tend towards being obsessed after a while I just had to fit a GMT movement and hands to it because that's what should be in the case. This got me wondering. Does anyone wear a GMT watch and use the extra function and if so what for?

What to take ?

Off in a couple of weeks to turkey , taking my D7200 +. 80-400G for any long range birding ., now the question is do I take a couple of mid reach lenses or just use my recently acquired iPhone 17 pro.max with it’s excellent camera and video system . I’m veering towards the latter for ease of use and lightness . I must add I’m not yet proficient with the I.phone only had it since Saturday but I think I’ve got it fairly well worked out

Printing Software conundrum

Okay, so unlike many people I process my photos with PS and then print via Lightroom using ICC profiles for the paper / printer combination in use for the image. My workflow has evolved over time and works well for me and the print output is spot on for what I want. This process creates prints that are exactly how I want them and I had no difficulty selling them. However, now I am retired I have no wish to pay Adobe the best part of £200 a year for what is now a hobby and will result in far... Read more

Exploring new places by e-bike with a camera

I’ve been thinking about how enjoyable it can be to combine e-bike trips with photography. An e-bike makes it easier to reach viewpoints, quiet roads and places that would be difficult to visit by car, while still allowing enough time to stop and take photographs. Do any of you take a camera with you on e-bike rides? What do you use to carry and protect your camera, and have you discovered any memorable locations this way?

Peli case vs Nanuk vs Temu??

I'm thinking of getting a hard case like the Peli 1535 but I have also been looking at the Nanuk 935. I keep getting ads come up for these style of cases from Temu and I wondered if they are any good? I have always avoided Temu and some of the other 'knock off' brands but I have heard some people who have had some good buys. Thoughts on any of the budget options to the Peli 1535?

Photographing Badgers in the dark

I am photographing badgers in the wild it’s very dark almost cannot see them . I am using a Nikon z8 with a Godox flash and 300mm f4 . Problem is z8 uses a green af assist light and the godox af assist is red won’t even fire, I am manual focussing but it’s hit and miss any ideas
