Sig P265

Saw on another forum that Sig filed for a trademark for P265. I don’t know anything else but I’m potentially excited about what it might be. I dug up some info on trademark just to confirm it wasn’t a wild rumor. https://www.trademarkelite.com/trademark/trademark-detail/99634307/P265

Good interview on why 80,000 psi is the next future for lower recoil, longer barrel life, and better suppression.

https://www.outdoorlife.com/guns/federal-peak-plus-ammo-development/ Too many people think high pressure (80,000 psi or whatever) is going to increase recoil, increase barrel burn, and blow out suppressors, etc. None of that is the case. Higher pressure is the path to performance with lower recoil, lower barrel wear, and better suppression for the same performance (velocity) or better. By unlocking high MAPP, the pressure behind the bullet can spike early and then drop off faster... Read more

Looking for some load suggestions for 38 special / 357 magnum for snub nose and 6" barrels

I'm hoping to get some load suggestions for these 158 grain semi jacketed hollowpoint bullets. If possible, I'd like to create some defensive loads - probably 4 different loads, but maybe only 2 depending on the responses here. I'd like to load some 38 special, and some 357 magnum. The loads will be for a 6" 686 and a snub nose model 19, so fairly different barrel lenghts. I have the following powders to choose from: 4227, H110, HP38, Unique (also Varget, IMR3031, IMR4895 but don't... Read more

Looking For A Light 38 Load

I’d like to cook up a light 38 Special load for use in my friend’s wife’s 38 Special 5 shot revolver, a J-frame S&W. She wants to practice more with it. After shooting it yesterday, I can see how even standard 38 Special loads would be uncomfortable. My standard 38 Special target load if 2.7 grains of Cleanshot was pretty good but some other 158 grain factory fare was a bit harsh. I have a fair bit of the target load components left, but that seems pretty weak if she were to move to SD... Read more

Comparing firearms with archery in terms of resale value

I don’t know that this is anything of great value to discuss, it’s just an observation I made from attending gun shows, pawn shops and flea markets. Used archery equipment loses resale value incredibly fast compared to firearms. I think that’s because firearms are by-and-large a mature technology whereas modern archery gear sees technology advances every few years. A hunting rifle bought in 1975 is essentially identical to one for sale today except perhaps stock material but a modern... Read more

Cracked Eddy

So I thought I'd share some Eddystone Model 1917 30-06 info related to ongoing projects: My BIL has one from his fathers garage rafters (found after passing). His dad was in the Coast Watch during WW2. His patrol route was San Fran to Davenport/Santa Cruz. He had an issued Eddystone M1917 that he kept after the war. They weren't real worried about getting them back. So 100% original as issued. He showed it to me, asked questions about maintenance, etc. - and I got the bug As an... Read more

Issues with new Glock 43X 15 round magazines??

My 43X has been 100% reliable since the first shot with the original 10 round magazines and with the PSA Micro Dagger 15 round magazines. Several weeks ago I purchased two of the new Glock 15 round steel (Mecgar) magazines and I’m pretty disappointed. They will not load a round by the slingshot method with any type of ammunition (hollow point or ball). It requires a sharp palm strike to the back of the slide to get the round to chamber. They will load using the slide stop release but even... Read more

How good of a caliber is .300 Holland & Holland Magnum?

My father had one years ago, I have the dire and brass. But it’s relatively obscure these days, especially relative to its bigger brother, the .375 Holland & Holland Magnum. Thoughts? I’m guessing its obscurity and lack of popularity are for a reason, maybe simply because the .375 Holland & Holland Magnum is similar but more practical.

Someone else currently making kits??? Regards from Spain Paco

My stepdaughter and son-in-law have decided that it was time for the two grandchildren to learn how to fire a pistol.
