I've set min/max to 81-250 manhattan distance, this is according to may limited gameplay so far solid for ships (but I'm not sure) Problem is when I map for coastal/river industries or towns I get very small number of candidate routes on 1024x1024 map, plenty of routes are skipped due to being out of distance range. It's easy to make distance range larger, but question is by how much until a route becomes non profitable or until ROI (Return On Investment) is too small to be worthwhile. I'm sure openttd veternans can give some hints.

Would appreciate if you could post a few screenshots from your scenario or game here! TBH these days I'm pretty busy, so more ambitious projects like sanctuarium with the Way of the Cross have to wait a bit longer. But here is an example how your projects can nicely fit into a central European rural plain. There are four elements on the pic below - 2x "clothes" in the village, big cross on the crossroads in the left side of the image and smaller cross just next to the station. Maybe at some time I will do additional crosses - for example here in Bavaria, there are a lot of Wayside shrines , then Celtic crosses for Ireland and Scotland, ... Too many ideas, too little time ... But next on my to-do list at the moment are some large mining buildings and machinery, for the lignite mining for example in Garzweiler (DE), Turow (PL), or Tušimice (CZ) Both ideas are awesome. I think it should be quite easy to transform your crosses into shrines - it's just enough to add some flowers and maybe a bench before. (But I'm a noob who can't draw nor code, so maybe I'm wrong xD). Regarding mining machinery... There aren't many things in the world as awesome as Bagger 288 But it seems quite hard to draw!
It seems that the issue is about start delay. Given enough time to get started it does eventually start. Perhaps it is the initial loan or these other restrictions that cause a longer delay than expected. I usually start in 1965 and have the AI players start 3 months later, and it gives each player $200,000 with up to $1,000,000 total loan. I do not know if it is a money issue or other restriction I am imposing but it does eventually start.
Really cool to see a new TTD-inspired game in the works — the screenshots and GIFs look charming already, especially the little vehicles moving around. I love how transport management games still inspire new projects decades later. Do you plan to add things like signals, timetables or multiplayer further down the line? Either way, I'll definitely check out the itch page and give it a try. Best of luck with the development!
Been spinning a lot of Zach Bryan lately — "Something in the Orange" and "Heading South" have been on heavy rotation here. There's something about stripped-back acoustic storytelling that fits a long OpenTTD evening perfectly. I also went back to Tyler Childers' "Purgatory" album this week. Great to see such a wild mix of genres in this thread over the years, from blackened metal to chanson.
Hi everyone! I'm a brand new member and just wanted to introduce myself. I've been playing OpenTTD on and off for a few years now and only recently discovered this forum, so I figured it was about time to join. I mostly play the classic game with a couple of NewGRFs and I'd love to get better at designing proper rail networks. Outside the game I'm into rail photography and country music. Looking forward to reading and joining the discussions here!
Source code and graphics in the attached ZIP archive since I'm too lazy to set up a GitHub repo for such a small set Good work, keep on!
Oh dude... This is MUCH better than you think! I don't play a mountainous scenario, but a Central European one. And these graphics fit perfectly for diversifying rural areas! Crosses are very common e.g. in Poland, so for me they are not built necessarily for summits, rather for rural crossroads. And the Himalayan flags are great as... clothes drying in the backyard Really, that's great. I'm even thinking about building a sanctuary with a long Way of the Cross and pilgrims between the stations. Very creative ideas for alternate use of the "summit markers - I like them a lot, since they would also apply to my Germany 16k scenario If you are looking for more backyard graphics - check GarryG's AuzTownObjects V26 which also features clothlines in the "Back Yards" sub-menu. And actually, I also had an idea about an alternative use of the "summit markers" - I hope you don't mind since many people in Poland are very catholic The idea of "Way of the Cross" is an excellent one since there are many also in other countries, for example Pórtugal. Would appreciate if you could post a few screenshots from your scenario or game here! I was actually looking for some NML code with the forum search function but now my question is something else: Have these beautiful graphics above of the big train station (I assume it's to be the Anhalter Bahnhof in Berlin) ever been published??? It would be a pity if they got lost on some person's harddrive ...
GitHub please
Hello! This is my first time posting in the forum! I have been playing OpenTTD for quite some time now and I have noticed the Wiki could use some improvements. I'm starting small, overhauling pages from the Baseset that haven't been touched since 2011, like the entry for the Kirby Paul Tank Engine for instance. I think i'm doing a good job, but I can't figure out how to upload images to the Wiki, and i can't find a guide for it. Could you guys help me out? Thank you for your kindness and time in advance!
