300zx Owners forum

Hey Guys I just bought a 96' NA 2+2 300ZX. The chassis has 136k on it but the original motor was seized and the car came with a "new low milage motor" to put in it. I am trying to do all the preventative maintenance I can to it before I install it. ie all of the oil seals, timing belt kit, coolant hoses, vacuum lines, and ignition. Is there anything else I should look for or replace before I start putting things together. Thanks all.

Hi all, Ive posted something along the same lines ages ago but I am completely stuck. 1990 300zx na I have rusty rear sills that need to be fixed along with some minor rust underbody. I have sourced stamped replacement parts for the rear sills. I need my ebrake replaced including the cables. Have the full replacement kit from concepts But for the life of me, I cannot find any place that will touch it with a 10 foot pole. I even have the centre console out to make life easier but every place might as well hang up on me when I tell the vehicle. Based in Wicklow. I'm not looking for an immediate 2 day fix, if it needs to be a side project for a shop for a few weeks that's better than it looking sad in my driveway. Anyone know anyone who might work on it? I need this done to pass the NCT. After which, all other regular maintenance things I would do my self that doesn't involve being under the car. I never imagined it would have been so hard to find a place. It's in good shape otherwise. This is purely to pass the NCT. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help a fellow Z owner out!

I need help 300 gurus... please.. ill make this as short as I can for you... I know what critics can say but idc Ive owned this 300 z for 10years ride or die by these things . Brother bought cheap cheap because timing jumped didnt know it. Him knowing how much I loved these things and been so long since I have had my dream car in my possession sold to me for 500$ but no title. BUTT the good brother I have and what I didnt mention is that its the most mint one I've ever seen in my state and in person!. So naturally kept like gold. Had trouble all these years getting title amd life kept getting in my way too. A billion $ later amd 10 years.. I got the title about 3 months ago. Originally car was going to be turbo ls swapped.. had all the stuff about 2 years ago had to sell everything but the car. Right after I got my title FINALLY. my brother went and got me a cheap but good n/a motor to get me riding. Here is partially where ima get judgment called a liar blah blah dont care. Other than this problem im having ill put my money where my mouth is. .. im a grade A tech/master mechanic in cars boats and motorcycle . Also professional auto painter. (car originally red) doesnt matter atm.... before I state my issue I want to say this thing has fought me every absolute step of the way trying to drive it. Looking for my dads old 1993 300ZX TT auto IMPORT (K601 CDW) The car was recently SORNED after being untaxed since 2010 which means it's still out there somewhere. If anyone has any information about this car id really appreciate it.

Hi! Not sure if I'm correct here, just joined the group. A solid 2 months ago I bought a lovely 1997 300ZX Z32 in a beautiful purple color. It's been a great car so far and I love it with all my soul as it's the first sports car I've owned since I am only 20 🤣 I did encounter a problem yesterday after work though. My front windshield wipers always worked with no problem, showing no signs of giving up. Then, on my way home from work, as I turned them on in the rain, they swiped once and then stopped working. I pulled over to check if turning the car on and off would solve it, which it didn't. I was able to freely move them around but as soon as they reached the top position (vertically infront of my view), they blocked there completely. I replaced the fuse and checked the relay, both of which don't seem to have any issues. When I try to turn the wipers on, all I hear is the motor or the relay seemingly clicking twice before going quiet. The washers however work, and tge rear wiler as well with no issues. What could the problem be?

Hiya, i'm new around here and joined for information and also advice into how i should go about dealing with my Z. I bought this Z a few months back with a relatively unknown history, the only real info i had was that the engine was rebuilt in the last 5 years or so, has atleast a few minor mods (radiator, BOV, potentially turbo stuff?) and that the car ran decently well. i've come to self diagnose that my knock sensor is knackered, my speed sensor either has a bad ground, worn out or needs a solder fix in the dash(0-5mph wiggle upon being stationary occasionally), and due to the 5~ years since an engine rebuild i think the timing belt + tensioners require doing just for peace of mind (the cars only done 4k miles since the rebuild) i'm more electrically inclined than mechanically inclined so i wanted to ask for any reccomendations for shops that are familliar with z's to fix my knock sensor and change the belt + tensioners and to perhaps have a quick look over the general state of parts on the car. The only place i know of is PowerZed but its quite a trek (which i guess isn't the end of the world if y'all reccomend that as the place to go).

Hey new member! I came across this page and found a lot of useful info that’s been helping me with my NA-TT build. I’m currently making a parts list and usually get most of my parts from Z1, CZP, or Facebook Marketplace when I find a good deal. I live in Queens, NYC. I’ve repainted my car twice, still the same color because I’m picky, and I’ve also done custom projector headlights twice. I’m riding on coilovers with the 99 JDM nose 2+2. Thanks for allowing me to join the page!

I have had the odd running issue with my Zed the last couple of months - an intermittent miss-fire when cold, sticky throttle after a long fast run, and the speed sensor failed again last week after trying Jeff's old epoxy resin fix a while back..... ....So I did what we advise everyone else to do and called Jimmer. Jim recommended the full engine loom replacement, new ethanol friendly injectors, ERG delete, new rocker cover gaskets and a plenum tart-up with new bolts etc., to improve the engine bay appearance! So I dropped the car at Powerzed on Monday morning and Jim sent me the first progress pictures today! And while it's there he'll be fitting a few other new parts, including the brand new OEM speed sensor I got from Japan. More pics to follow no doubt 😉
