Got a free tank off of Craigslist.... it was basically new. So I turned it into live bearers tank. Fancy guppies and platys. Of course i have the clean up crew, a few Cory cats, couple of algae eaters, and a hillstream Loach that keeps my glass clean haha. Also all the quartz in the tank as decor i found personally. Just gives it that certain touch.

I know that many people, like me, have tried to capture videos of their fish tanks and edit them into short documentaries. However, there are many scenes that cannot be captured outside the tank. If there were a “small fish” that could swim freely inside the tank, it might help meet some of the requirements for ultra-microscopic footage. I’ve seen many toy submarines that can be used for photography, but the quality and stability of those toys make it impossible to get useful footage. Larger... Hi all, Since I have a 1br apt and 4 fish tanks, I consider this a 'fish room' So, this thread is for when I impact multiple of my tanks, rather than post the same in 4 threads So, today I did the following: 1. Placed ALL 5 of the fluval canister filters into bright orange (home depot) 5 gal buckets with a water sensor alarm in each bucket. Looks a bit silly, but no worse really than the canisters themselves as they are not hidden. They fit into these buckets nicely a bit tight for... Fish 'Room' Maintenance

Hi all, I just purchased a 10 gal tank and a fluval AC20 filter. I have a hygger led light already. Just deciding as to substrate. Do I spend a bit more (double) and use ADA amazonia or fluval stratum? I installed the AC20 on my 40 gal to allow some bacteria to seed it. It will run until the tank is filled. I have approx 12-15 lbs of the Pine bark stone and am thinking a structure at one end and the rest open. Will use some hygro wisteria and other bushy fast growing plants at first... New 10 gallon

Hi all, So, I talked myself into a third and final tank. A 75 gal that was 50% off. That pays for the stand I think a low-light non c02 tank. Lots of ferns/anubias and the like. Most likely a community tank in terms of fish. May get some festivums as I think they are really cool and have never had them. Marineland 75 gal 48x18x21(LXWXH) Same model stand as the other 2 tanks. I like these stands. Ez to assemble and they look fine. I dont really like closed door cabinets. Another hygger... New 75 gal

Hello all, I see that it has been almost a decade since I last posted........ I wanted to post this thread to detail the HARDWARE I am using and offer my thoughts on these products. Hi all, So, I am going to resign my lease for at least another year, so I am going to purchase a 20 gal LONG type tank to fit on the 75 gal stand on the bottom. I am going to check out the Tidal HOB filters as I like the skimmer portion of it and it seems it will hold more bio-media. And the flow is adjustable as well iirc. I have enough of the bio-substrate to cover the bottom I think enough to plant a stem or 2 if I wanted. But am thinking just ferns and different types of anubias... New 20 gal long

So after 7weeks and several tear downs I’m finally ready to stock!!! Today African Dwarf Frogs 💕💕💕. It’s been quite a journey (see previous posts). Implementing the Walstead tank method has definitely been a game changer. Today I added 3 ADFs and while initially shy I think they’ll be very happy. Will keep a close eye on ammonia this week because ADFs tend to have a high bio mass and cause ammonia spikes. Plus the addition of bloodworms as food Monday Wednesday and Friday. Luckily the ADFs... Hi all, I need some help please. I got this plant from PetSmart with a tag that simply said, "Hygrophila Sp" What I bought was cut stems, 6 of them tightly bound up together. I'm okay with that as they will root but doing my own research I have learned that there are several varieties. This plant has seed pod like attachments where the leaf and stem meet. I can't find any info. Does anyone here know? I'm all ears. 2 pics same plant one just has a flashlight shinning on it. [ATTACH... What variety of Hygrophila?

It’s not really green (more white or a light green?) or fluffy/hair looking but when I try to look it up, search results keep showing me hair algae I’m not too bothered by it but if it’ll become a problem someone let me know it’s on most my plants, but most prominent on my guppy grass & rotala im not active on this site so if this is in the wrong section pls lmk & im sorry

So looking at my tank and thinking about rearranging my swords I’m wondering about water movement. I have a filter and I leave the water level a little low to help oxygenate the water and create some movement. Watching what’s going on though none of the plants seem to react as they would if there was consistent water movement. Does this matter and would putting a large leafy plant under the out flow help increase water movement in the tank? Going to test and see [ATTACH... Water movement
