From the guys who use them. I’m looking for a used but not old, 75-115hp 4wd tractor. I want an open station. I do not want a cab. My used pricing puts me at late teens early 20s John Deere 5e or 5m. I’ve also looked at new holland and have a hard time discriminating between valid diff between powermaster and workmaster. Im not opposed to mahindra Kubota or anything else reputable. My daughter (16) and I finally aligned our schedules and drove out to our property for a daddy daughter hunt this weekend. I checked the spots I set up for her the day we arrived and found one blind partially destroyed. The only lasting damage was one obliterated hub blind pole. I made a note that it could likely be repaired if needed. The next morning I packed a roll of duct tape and a poplar sapling up the hill in the dark. We got in the blind and I made a quick repair. We purchased this property in upstate NY in the fall of 2013. It is 207 acres and largely hardwoods. We cleared about 9 acres for plots, including several deep woods plots. We've also installed two water holes to supplement creeks and a 11/2acre beaver pond. Today, we have 17 acres of plots in a mixture of corn/beans, clover/chicory, and variations of LC's brassicas and grain/clover rotation.

Those who use buck bombs and/or scents, what have you found to work the best?

I’m new to hunting public land and especially new to hunting the mountains of Pennsylvania, so I’m trying to learn as much as I can. I’ve killed plenty of deer over the years, but almost all of my hunting experience has been sitting food plots and hunting established feeding areas. What I haven’t really done is go into big woods, read the terrain, figure out how deer are naturally using the land, and hunt them based on that. That’s what I want to learn now. The season actually started a month ago, but I haven’t been able to hunt much. I took my 4 year old son and 7 year old nephew a couple of weeks ago, and my nephew shot a 10 pointer. I’m hunting alone tonight. It feels like a good day for the deer to move. I’ve already seen 3.
