You’re comparing the wrong layer of the software. Samsung’s launch material tends to bundle firmware changes, app updates, AI features, and server-side rollouts into one big list, even though they do not arrive together for every account or region. @matrixshift has the right places to look, but don’t use promotional screenshots as a checklist. Check the changelog attached to your actual regional build. If the listed functions work and the build number changed, the familiar home screen is intentional, not a broken installation. Frankly, this update was sold like a renovation when it is closer to new appliances in the same kitchen.

Spend a week noting what you actually change after reading the sleep and readiness data. If a bad score never affects your workout, bedtime, caffeine, or schedule, buying another tracker will mostly give you a second morning notification. I’d be careful assuming any “newer” Apple Watch has the same readiness features. Check your exact model and software support first. That could settle the comparison before you spend anything. The overlooked annoyance with using both is deciding which device gets to be the authority. Sleep stages and recovery scores can disagree, leaving you debating dashboards instead of paying attention to how you feel. Oura makes more sense when you treat it as the main sleep device and use the watch mainly for workouts, notifications, and daytime tracking. There is another practical catch: rings can be inconvenient during weight training, manual work, or anything involving a tight grip. You may remove it often enough that activity tracking becomes patchy. That is not necessarily a problem if sleep is your priority, but it makes Oura less convincing as an all-day replacement. Given that charging is your specific complaint, Oura could be worth it. Just define its job narrowly: reliable overnight tracking with less wrist clutter. If you expect dramatically different insight from the same basic body signals, the purchase is harder to justify.
I would not give AI Cleaner full photo access unless its policy clearly states local processing and no photo collection. Full access exposes every image, screenshot, date, and location. A simpler option is Apple’s duplicate finder. Open Photos, tap Albums, scroll to Utilities, then tap Duplicates. Review each group and choose Merge. iOS keeps the highest-quality copy and moves extras to Recently Deleted. No extra app, no subscription, and less privacy risk. Check each group first, tho.
The scan results need to show pixel dimensions and file size, not merely a JPG count. Recovery tools can surface embedded previews that look convincing but are much smaller than the originals. Prioritize the largest versions, export them to the computer, and check their actual resolution before assuming the recovery worked.
Don’t buy it without sleeping in the sizing kit first. Ring comfort is surprisingly personal because fingers swell overnight, and a fit that feels normal during the day can become annoying in bed. Oura is worth it if you barely notice the ring and therefore collect consistent sleep data. Otherwise, the Apple Watch is enough for tracking trends, and you’re just swapping charging hassle for ring-fit hassle.
Your previous software version matters: if you came from the mid-cycle build, this is more of a feature drop than a redesign. @scriptshiftsync is right about customization hiding details, but even stock users mostly need to look inside Now Brief, video editing, Interpreter, scanning, Voice Recorder, and the new privacy alerts. The home screen and basic navigation were never going to look dramatically different.
If you have a newer Apple Watch with Apple’s built-in readiness feature, I wouldn’t buy an Oura Ring purely for more data. As of September 2026, Apple’s latest watches combine sleep, activity, training load, and vitals into a daily readiness score, so the gap between the two platforms is much smaller than it used to be. Oura still makes sense if the watch itself is the problem. A ring is less noticeable in bed, needs charging far less often, and is designed around passive sleep and recovery tracking. That matters if charging your watch keeps causing missed nights. Consistent data from the device you will actually wear is more useful than slightly broader data from one sitting on the charger. Current Oura models generally last several days between charges. The downside is paying for another device and then maintaining a membership if you want the detailed insights. Without the membership, Oura limits what you can see quite a bit. You may end up with two apps presenting similar sleep stages and scores, without either one changing what you do the next day. I’d first try charging the watch during showers, dinner, or your evening wind-down instead of around bedtime. If that solves the annoyance, the Apple Watch covers enough. If you still skip nights or dislike sleeping in a watch, Oura is worth considering as a comfort and consistency purchase, not because its numbers will suddenly reveal something the watch cannot.
If you use Good Lock, a custom launcher, or a theme, your existing setup may hide much of the visual refresh. Switch to the stock launcher and default theme briefly before deciding nothing changed.
Plug the computer into power and disable automatic sleep before starting. A recovery scan can run for hours, and some built-in readers do not reconnect cleanly after the machine sleeps. Create a destination folder on the internal drive now, then confirm there is enough free space for more than the missing folder because signature scans often return duplicates and older deleted images. With a deadline this close, check the recovery program’s export rules before committing to a scan. Some programs will spend a long time finding and previewing files, then require payment before they save anything. Run the fastest deleted-file scan first and export usable photos immediately rather than waiting for every possible scan mode to finish. Sorting filenames and removing duplicates can wait. @nanoworks5487’s suggestion to search the computer is worth doing, but put a short limit on it. Check the intended destination, Downloads, Pictures, and any temporary folder created by the transfer program. After that, move on to recovery. Once files are exported, open a sample at full resolution and copy the entire recovered set to another location if possible. Keep the original card unchanged until after the deadline.
Don’t factory-reset the phone or assume the update failed just because the home screen looks familiar. This release is mostly refinement rather than a full visual redesign. The more noticeable changes are inside Samsung apps and features: updated media controls and menus, better Now Brief and Now Nudge suggestions, voice-driven Photo Assist edits, My FanCam video reframing, plus accessibility and security changes. Make sure Galaxy Store and Play Store updates are finished, then restart once. Some features depend on updated Samsung apps, your language or region, and being signed into a Samsung account, so they may not all appear immediately. If Settings shows the new Android version and current software build, the update probably installed correctly. The subtle look is expected.
I’ve tried wearing my Apple Watch overnight for 17 nights and checking the sleep data each morning. Charging around sleep is getting annoying, though. Is an Oura Ring worth adding in 2026 for sleep and readiness tracking, or does the Apple Watch already cover enough to make the extra device redundant?
The One UI 9 update finished on my S26, but the interface looks almost unchanged from what I had before. I had expected the visible differences to be easier to spot based on what I’d read. Are others seeing mostly subtle changes too, or is there something that may not have enabled correctly?
