I thought these pellets had gone out of production, but they haven't, but nobody sells them anywhere near me, the best I've seen is 10 kilos for around £30-40 delivered, I'm tempted, 25 kilos is a better buy, but I will be in my box before I use that amount.

Do you make or modify your tackle? I have an idea for a float I intend to make. I was thinking of making a float with a sight tip which would be easier to see. My first attempt was about a year ago. It was to make a float with a paddle shaped tip similar in profile to a wooden coffee stirrer. I eventually gave up on that idea. On a few trips recently I’ve tried larger baits than I would usually use and a slightly heavier set up all round. The lakes I have fished recently have some large carp and quite a few lilies. My most successful bait and method has been whole mussels banded on a short hair to a size 12. I’ve had some decent fish. The hook seems small in relation to the bait but when I upped the size I began to miss bites. I caught plenty of crucians, tench and some bream. All are fish that usually give very... Something that came up on another thread; having baits ready for impromptu sessions. It is something that I have been doing for years. As well as the freezing of any bait left over after a session; maggots, groundbait, sweetcorn, etc. I make up batches of cereals like ground maize, wheat & pigeon peas and put them in the freezer. Do or have any of you guys reached a point where you feel it suddenly becomes harder to actually drag yourself and your gear out, I'm feeling a change in my general fitness, even though I walk 3-5 miles a day. Or is it partially the lack of water and ridiculously hot summer making me a bit low mentally, as I normally want to get out, but at present it's a chore, especially with autumnal fishing changes.

A few years ago I was fishing with a brand new orange rubber shad and it was doing the business for pike and wouldn’t you know it, a pike took the lure short and amputated its tail. This river badly affected, never seen so much, we have and some rain lately but they haven't opened the sluice gates to run it off yet, this must have been building up since June which was the last time I visited here. usually just a bit by the sluice gates but this runs quite a way along, I walked for about 100 yds. will this have affected the fishing?
