Any of you guys use them? The boy wanted one for his birthday so I've got one on order, but don't know much about them. I kinda should have done more research but was short on time. If you have one, any hints or tips/ I went with a Banbu Lab P1S with AMS unit.

Only allowed to buy this if I sell some fishing stuff to fund it 🤔

Are these rods any good?

So my Orvis Pros have given up after 5 years of river use and numerous repairs so I can't complain. But I am not prepared to pay £700+ for a new pair. So any recommendations on hardwearing waders for river use - sliding down bank on my arse, scrambling up banks on my knees etc. Are those Taimen waders any good? Thanks

At the start of the year I contacted Ross from RJC Rods about one of his 11' 6/7 rods for salmon and seatrout from Hebridean lochs. I had gone last year to Harris with a rod that was planned, plotted for a long while before finally coming to life in 21 by Lewis Chessman (JB). It is a great rod, built by a great builder but I decided to get another made, as many thought me mad for making day long trips to a loch without backup. Hello, thinking about purchasing either a 3 or 4 wt Guideline LPX Tactical 9’9”. (Possibly considering the NT11 in 9’6” 3wt). It will be used mainly for a team of spiders fished mostly across stream and occasionally upstream on medium sized rivers. I’ve looked through existed posts and see that a few people like both. What would be the advantages and disadvantages of either weight? A few come to my mind: -4 wt will land fish a little quicker especially in higher water levels and would... I'm on the lookout for a very light large arbour fly reel for a four / five weight line, a disc drag is not important and a click drag will work for its intended use. I put a small piece of electrical tape on the centre part of a spool with letters on e.g. 7F which obviously meant 7# Floating. Unfortunately the tape came off in the rod carrier. Wouldn't normally be a problem but they were new lines and I hadn't got used to them. My question is how do people mark their spools for identification. Using a marker pen is okay until you decide to change a line to something different. Why don't reel manufacturers leave a small plate on a spool for attaching a label?

I have a new rod (Wycwood Ionica) but when I use it the line makes a sort of whistling noise - it just sounds wrong. I had small tub of silicone (for putting on line to make it float) and put some on all the eyelets and they were silent and my casting was much improved. Does anyone know of a more permanent product (or longer lasting) I could use. I have thought about using my wax block (normally used in fly tying) but just wondered what other do. TIA
