I have a severe/profound hearing loss. My hearing loss became apparent about 25 years ago. I've been wearing HAs for about 20 years. I've always been aware of a certain background noise, which is kind of a high frequency hiss, which I assume is tinnitus, but most of the time I ignore it and it's not an issue for me. However, in the past few months, I've become aware of a new noise in my left ear. I thought about how to describe it. It sounds most like a cross between a frog croaking and the sound of a fingernail pulled down a few tines of a comb. The sound is an irregular pattern, consisting of one to six or seven pings or croaks with brief pauses of about one second in between. When I focus on this sound, it is continuous. More like a frog croaking than a cricket chirping. I've tried moving around, holding still, being totally relaxed, holding my breath. Nothing seems to alter the random frequency of the pings. A while ago I sent some feedback to Apple around hearing aids. Mostly regarding LE audio which they haven’t sorted yet, but also the potential to add hearing devices widgets to CarPlay. Looks like they may have heard that part. Might not be useful for everyone but sometimes I like to change program depending on the situation. Driving alone, with someone, music on etc. My current setup would require cycling through with the button. Hi all. Can anyone that has used a Floogoo adapter with Philips 9050 hearing aids please advise how well it works? Ideally I'd like to be able to confirm that you plug it into a pc, install and run the software, set the adapter up and then the adapter is just plug and play across any other devices you plug it into (within reason)? I'd also like to ask if the mic worked with the Floogoo and Philips 9050 when plugged into a PC? Bit weird - there is both heaps of information out there about the Floogoo but I haven't been able to find answers to these specific questions. Hi, Just wanted to check - when signing into the new forum, it said that the old account on the previous forum is moved here, but the password doesn't work. After emailing us the link, it seemed to set up a new account, but it would not let me use my previous display name. Is this a known feature, or did I do something wrong? A month ago, my wife and I had back to back appointments for a hearing test at the local audiologist's office. We were referred by our ENT. They were 30 minute appointments and we were done with testing in about 15 minutes, each. After exiting the booth, the audiologist took us to a different room and tried to sell each of us $6600 hearing aids. Twice I said we were there for just the test and wouldn't be making a purchase decision. I also expressed low confidence in the test since we were rushed through - even during the test I interrupted saying I wasn't confident when I pushed the button. Hoping for a repeat, the audiologist simply said "I can tell" ... I expressed interest in a half shell (?) type aid because I've had domes stick before ... that was ignored and she continued to push the RIC BTE types ... Finally I cut her off when she turned the hard sell on my wife. We left saying we needed to talk and decide what we wanted to do. A few weeks later, we got the eMSN from Medicare and the Audiologist billed them for hearing tests - our copay was about $10. What shocked me is, they billed Medicare for $1000 in additional uncovered charges - EACH - for fitting and programming hearing aids, etc. Medicare bounced all of that of course as HAs are not covered. The bill from the Audiologist has not been received yet; I intend to pay the $10 hearing test copay only and will refuse the remainder. What I want to know is whether such is typical business practice in this industry? I w

Phonak Roger Clip-On Mic 1.1. Bought in July 2026 for £280 Roger Clip-On Mic 1.1 (052-3294) SN : 2624NY6JM Sales Warranty - 2 Years 29.08.2028 I bought this, opened it for the training that I'd booked, but decided that I'd just use the Roger On 3 for now. Unfortunately, FM Hearing wouldn't allow a return because I'd removed the cardboard separator and one of the card lids. Everything else is brand new and unused. I have a severe hearing loss and have gotten new aids (Signia 7IX) with RIC ear molds. The HA's are great. Problem is the mold. When I first got them, it took a while for my ear to become accustomed to the molds. Some little pain and discomfort, after a while, I didn't notice them. My left ear is no problem. My right one is. Initially it fit OK, but after a month or so of wearing it, I have noticed a lot of ear wax. I wear my HA's all day and at night when I remove them, my right one is sometimes very difficult to remove. The wax seals the mold. During the day, I sometimes have to remove the RIC and mold and clean my ear of the wax. I tried Miracell ProEar on the right side. It helps, with the fit, but not the wax. Hi everyone, I am writing to you from the UK with a very urgent and heartfelt request. I recently purchased a pair of NHS Oticon Engage BTE hearing aids from a private seller here, hoping to get high-quality devices for my mother who lives in Bulgaria. I wanted to provide her with the best possible care at an affordable price. My mother is a Stage 4 cancer patient. Due to her condition, she is extremely weak and absolutely cannot travel to the UK or move around easily. I managed to send the hearing aids to Bulgaria, and she went to a local clinic to have them programmed. Unfortunately, the local audiologists told her they cannot access or program them because the devices are factory-locked by the NHS. They told us that they need the specific regional NHS unlock code for the Oticon Genie 2 software to make the devices recognizable. Without this code, these wonderful hearing aids are completely useless to her. I am desperately turning to this community in hopes that someone can share the Genie 2 unlock code, or point me directly to the "DIY School PDF" guide for Unlocking ReBranded Hearing Aids. I just want to bring some comfort and joy to my mother during this incredibly difficult time in her life.
