Since Portainer CE will not be receiving any new features or upgrades, just security updates, i went looking for for something else. Heres what i found: Since i already run cockpit, i started looking for a plugin for that, and found a decent one. I installed all the cockpit plugins fedora offered. It has all the core features i use all the time, and i while portainer has many more features, i wasnt using them much and can do those via the docker command at the command line as needed. Local Remote -main docker server (not all are in the picture below)

This is an aside to say: practice self reliance daily. In a world where the majority of folks are handing over their entire disposable income in hopes of having convenience automate their lives, the ability to actually take care of yourself and those around you has faded. That gives you a competitive edge that others simply don’t have. It gives you freedom, and it gives you the ability to make decisions that others cannot. They don’t get the option to do basic things when they’ve outsourced the entire chain. As the years go on, I find it harder and harder to respect people who do not have an interest in figuring out how things work. How their lives work and how to make their lives better. That’s how people move forward, and I’m not just talking about tech. It’s a fundamental curiosity and it astounds me that so many people want to abdicate that self-reliance.

I have the same MC62-G40 and have been experimenting quite a bit with the fan control. One thing I’ve discovered is that the BMC seems to have some additional fan RPM logic beyond the thresholds you configure. In my case, if I allow one of my larger fans to run below roughly 600 RPM, the BMC intermittently ramps all fans to full speed for a few seconds , even though I have manually set the lower RPM threshold for that fan header to 100 RPM. I use a mixture of 40mm, 60mm, 120mm and 180mm fans. My smaller fans are generally running at 750 RPM or above, but I have a 180mm fan that I want to run at around 450 RPM. At 450 RPM I get the intermittent full-speed ramping. If I increase that same fan to around 750 RPM, the problem disappears completely. So I suspect the MC62-G40 BMC has a hard-coded minimum RPM/fan-failure threshold somewhere that isn’t exposed through the normal fan settings. It may also explain why you’re struggling to get your Noctuas to run as slowly as your curves are requesting. I’ve raised this with Gigabyte to find out whether it’s by design, a BMC limitation, or something that can be changed in firmware. I’ll update here if I get a useful response.
