Hi everyone. I'm currently testing the Proxmox Backup Server to back up around 100TB of VM data. It's working quite well. I'd like to write the latest backup versions to tape once a week. The tape drive is located in a separate room. Our current solution involves a small workstation there that mirrors the data from a datastore on a network share once a week and then writes it to tape. This solution has several obvious drawbacks, not least because we would need two PBS licenses, but also... Read more

Hi All Brand new to Proxmox and mid first install, have used VMware for many years with out issues, so having a few teething issues with Proxmox, assume born from stupidity and trying to implement beyond my current level of understanding... So here goes We have a 6 node Proxmox cluster, 32 Core/256GB ram each. Each host has 5 x 3.2tb NVMe's. Now here was my first attempt to do something funky in regards to resilience within Ceph. So using crush maps (Device Classes) with the "Host"... Read more
I've got three nodes in a cluster and the other two upgraded fine but the third one got this far and then the node showed as down in the UI and I can't SSH in to it either. Any ideas why this might have happened? I'll have to do a hard reboot to see if it comes up again, otherwise I'll have to connect it to a monitor and keyboard to check it. Code: Starting system upgrade: apt-get dist-upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done Reading state information... Done... Read more
Hi, we are experiencing the problem that live migrations get slower over time - meaning the higher the uptime of a host the slower it gets. I know there are several posts already in regards to slow live migrations, however, we - have dedicated 2 x 100Gbit connections for the live migrations per host - the migrations is already set to "insecure" - we are not doing storage migrations, it is ceph with 2 x 100Gbit connections (each, that global and the cluster network have that) - and we can... Read more
Currently in my testing env i am trying the hot-plug option it is working fine for the memory but when trying for the CPU it is not accepting the for sockets and core, It is only working for VCPU is i am getting it right .
When you see this How long long is it going to take, is it progressing, how much is left ? If you double click you will see that it knows So I think that the task status summary should display it !
I'm a bit confused about the autoscaler and PGs. This cluster has Ceph 19.2.1, 18 OSDs, default 3/2 replicas and default target 100 PGs per OSD. BULK is false. Capacity is just under 18000G. A while back we set a target size of 1500G and we've been gradually approaching that, currently around 1300G SIZE (4.3 TB total Usage in GUI for all pools). The autoscaler still has the pool set to 128 PG. Multiple calculators show a recommendation of 512 PG for the pool, using 100 PG/OSD, or... Read more
I am getting PCIE ACCES DENIED and DENIED premissions when booting into my VM My question: How do you disable Secure BOOT IN VM?? https://www.reddit.com/r/Proxmox/comments/qil7qy/unable_to_pxe_boot_uefibased_vms/hjkc58b/
I'm honestly starting to lose the will to live here—maybe I've just been staring at this for too long. At first glance, it looks like a Grafana issue, but I really don't think it is. I was self-hosting an InfluxDB instance on a Proxmox LXC, which fed into a self-hosted Grafana LXC. Recently, I switched over to the cloud-hosted versions of both InfluxDB and Grafana. Everything's working great—except for one annoying thing: my Proxmox metrics are coming through fine except for the... Read more
Hi everyone — I'm Jay from GEAK OS, so I’m posting as part of the team behind the software. I'd like to work with an initial group of up to 10 Proxmox users who have room for a separate test VM. The idea is a small NAS experiment: install GEAK OS, create a shared folder, and check whether another computer can read and write files with the permissions you intended. Your feedback would help us improve the first installation and setup experience. GEAK OS is closed-source NAS software with a... Read more
I rebooted one of my nodes to get a new kernel, and on startup I was dropped into initramfs busybox. It is similar to this: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/ZFS:_Tips_and_Tricks#Boot_fails_and_goes_into_busybox I am running (unsupported, I know) an encrypted ZFS rpool: Code: root@ThreadReaper:~# zfs get encryption, encryptionroot, keylocation, keyformat, keystatus rpool/ROOT rpool/ROOT/pve-1 NAME PROPERTY VALUE SOURCE rpool/ROOT encryption aes-256-gcm -...
