Hi everyone, Is there currently any setting, flag, or workaround to completely prevent bookmarks from appearing in the address bar drop-down suggestions while typing? To be clear: I am not looking to turn off general search suggestions, trending queries, or browsing history. I specifically only want to disable bookmarks from being indexed and suggested in the omnibox/address bar. I've checked opera://settings and tweaked various flags in opera://flags, but local bookmarks still keep popping up as top results when I type. I know this option exists in Opera for Android, but I can't find a way to achieve this on the desktop version. Has anyone found a way to turn this off without having to completely delete/export all local bookmarks? Thanks in advance for any help!

I think Opera should move the bookmark bar to the left side. The traditional horizontal bookmark bar at the top is outdated and illogical, yet modern browsers keep copying each other without innovating for a better user experience. Of course, some people might object due to habit. However, once you get used to having the bookmark bar on the left or right, you will find it incredibly convenient; it doesn't eat into the screen's vertical space—and you'll notice that screens naturally offer more room on the sides than at the top or bottom. Most importantly, this avoids blindly copying the flawed, obsolete designs of other browsers. We could also include an option to position the bookmark bar at the top, on the left, or on the right.

@burnout426 i don't think there was an option, no. I've changed the locale in the fine to US and reinstalled it which was enough to remove region restrictions.

For now you can fake it. See https://www.reddit.com/r/operabrowser/wiki/opera/custom_site_panels/ and then use opera://password-manager/passwords or opera://password-manager/settings depending on which you want to load. Note that you'll want to increase the width of the panel until both the left and right panes on the page show.

@bimeu5000 There used to be address bar's experimental settings for that purpose. User could select what suggestions are good. But the options were removed completely for some reason. 2026-09-18_143058.png Defenitely the settings should be restored (was requested multiple times). There were other complaints regarding other categories, calculator fo example.

I've searched the forums and couldn't find a previous post, so apologies if it's already been requested. Is it possible to include a news region for English-Australia? Would love to use a localised version of the Personal news sidebar. Many thanks!

Yeah, it definitely sounds like the recent Opera update may have triggered the Discord login issue again.

You can fake it for now. See https://www.reddit.com/r/operabrowser/wiki/opera/custom_site_panels/ and then use opera://easy-setup or opera://settings or a specific section of settings like opera://settings/appearance. For some of those, you'll want to make the panel wider so you can see enough of the page.

@tlmurray They can be reported on the same place where you report bugs. You can also use the smiley icon on the address bar.
