For psychiatric notes and verbal communication (not talking about psychotherapy notes), is it necessary to get patient’s consent to share notes and/or verbal communication with the primary care physician or other members of the care team? Just wondering how you guys are going about PCP requesting notes and/ or updates on patients they refer to you.

I go to a mid-tier USMD school on the east coast. I was initially thinking of doing a competitive specialty but changed my mind to IM at the end of 3rd year. Hi all.. As the title says I’m scared I’m going to fail. This will be the second time around I’m taking it. Previous attempt was November of 2025 and I didn’t even try, so that was my own doing. I was very mentally unwell and gave up quickly. I received a 364 at the time. This time I’m putting my all in, and I’m still receiving what seems like minimal results.
