Anyone have experience buying these types? I see them get offered from various places. Sometimes amish. What are the typical downfalls to them? Wood exterior is a deal breaker in purchased blinds but these seem to be going more metal. My wood blinds get eaten too quickly. Early season, do you bow hunt a buck that has been totally nocturnal and risk stinking him out or do you wait until you have a daytime picture or two. The most successful bowhunter I know waits until buck is daylighting some before he starts hunting. I know rut and rifle are different

As promised, here is the summary of our foodplot plantings for the fall season. Foodplots 2026 I want to thank all of you who gave input on this. I'm just getting started in this, and y'all gave me a lot of help.

Just an oddball observation. Black tar spot and southern rust can be devastating. Tenant likes to spray fungicide for $25 an acre. It prolongs growth and delays dry down. This year half the ears are still upright, and the rain goes in the husk...and the corn is sprouting at the bottom. Just wanted to remind everyone that farming sucks.

Every few years I paint the T posts Kubota orange along my back property line that borders a development. I was doing that today when I noticed this new bridge. The bridge is 100 % on the neighbors land , however the end of the bridge is roughly 4 foot from my property line where I stood taking the picture. Again Nothing wrong with that , no law broken . I haven't had great success with chestnuts like the oaks, but I want to give it one more try. I believe most of my issues have been self-induced. Planting in less than idea locations for chestnuts. However, I opened up a nicer upland location that I want to try. Looking for 2-3 dozen nuts. A mix of drop-times, if that's even a thing. I should have my English x white cross acorns this year for trade. Thanks!

How about a thread where we can park info on named varieties of persimmon, or local female trees that we have sent out scion from. Please feel free to add info and pics of any named persimmon variety you have, along with ripening times and productivity.

One season I killed two mature bucks. Had to eat about 3LB per week. Thats about 9 meals per week of venison for me. Never again, I like beef, pork, and chicken to much. Now I try to harvest about 60lb for me and elderly parents. Brother has two kids in teens and can eat. He needs 250LB boned out meat a year. If I harvest one mature buck or two doe Im good. Brother needs 3 mature bucks and couple does a year. He figures 80lb per person and im good with 20lb.

Question; Has anyone done much with fruit tree scions or new growth cuttings taken in late winter that you just dropped them in a jar of well water with a little root hormone? Will they root out? Is it OK to direct plant them? I’m asking because I don’t want the cost of more rootstock and I have lots of fruit trees already, just wanting to add some crabs and persimmons to my shrub strips cheap. I have 9 shoulder mounts, 5 antler plaques, and 2 turkey fans to display on my garage wall. The wall is 16’ high and has horizontal 1x4’s for mounting them running the length at 6, 8, and 11’ behind the metal. I’m going to use the area between the left door and the fridge on the right. Is the 11’ too far up? Looking for ideas from the experts .
