That does look a good price, but have you also investigated how much a BA Holiday would be? You may get an even better deal with a car or hotel added, and that way you’re only committing to pay a deposit until much nearer the time.

We used it at Sospiri last month. Solid Italian food. We had our kids with us, and all really enjoyed it.

I applied at the end of the promotion at the end of last month and fulfilled the other other criteria over the next couple of days. I received an email inviting me to choose my experience roughly two weeks later.

I appreciate this is a “how long is a piece of string” style question but… The BA sale has some quite good prices for Canada next summer, at around £500ish return in economy. There is still lots of availability and we have some flexibility on dates and destinations. If I wait until their next sale (around Christmas time, I believe?), are these prices at all likely to be repeated? I don’t usually pay much attention to the sales so not sure of the pattern. Was not planning to book this far ahead, but the non-sale prices are roughly twice as high and my BA Amex cycle is off kilter, so realistically I won’t get a companion voucher until May, which will presumably be too late for any Avios availability…

BA has apparently added more flights to St Louis for summer 27, avios redemptions might be wide open.

Haneda also has train connections to the city. The budget seems relatively low for Western hotel brands. We stayed at a Mimaru which are functional and clean and should come in within your budget – there are lots of different options around the city depending on where you decide to base yourself.

For anyone reading, this has now taken a significant turn, without any prodding my parents have been rung and told they bags should arrive within a day or two. However it turns out they are hounding the poor check-in agent, asking them to pay or threatening that they will lose their job, they have requested a photo of the bags to show they are indeed hand luggage when they arrive back so they can create chronology of the circumstances to defend themselves. This really puts us in a difficult position, complaining to Oman Air will likely dob in the agent more, I don’t think it’s a scam for us to send money out of pity although it could be but it’s all very strange. Any advice from anyone please ?

How long did it take for yours to post? I’m right up against the 35 day deadline they set themselves and still nothing…

I don’t think the dissing of the Hertz app today is fair…. It is, beyond reasonable doubt, THE worst app in the travel industry. It has no peers in its rubbishness. It doesn’t even LOOK good. It has been rubbish in perpetuity. So, “It’s rubbish today” is incorrect :-0)

We got a taxi anyway as we had a lot of luggage and I didn’t want to mess around. It cost c. £40 from Haneda to Ginza, booked via Grab. We used the subway a lot whilst in Tokyo and it was great, clean, frequent and easy to navigate. Also felt safe. It can feel overwhelming going to Japan for the first time with perceived language barriers etc but in reality it’s pretty easy. You will be fine 🙂 Hope this helps a little bit
