I debated whether to post this in Music or Analogue and here it is. I don't play Rumours all that often, but when I do the sound quality is always a major disappointment. I havr two pressing, one Canadian, the other UK and both are dull, a bit wooly and shallow. I didn't notice it quite so much on the system I had when I bought the LP in '77, but I sure do now. Any chance there are some really good reissue pressings anyone has experienced? The original recordings cannot be this dull, surely?

For your consideration is a nice pair of 806's I just pulled out of a pair of Altec 9849A's. These have original aluminum diaphragms, but they do have the plastic loading caps on them. They aren't labeled as 806's in this speaker, they are kinda a mash up of and 806 and an 808. They have the aluminum diaphragms, but have the loading caps like you would normally see with symbiotiks. Nice pair of 1957 Zeniths. ‘802 are a true equivalent to the famous ‘852. There’s a pinhole in one surround that does not affect play. 7.9 and 8.1 ohms DCR. $150 & shipping.

My son is trying, with little success, to purchase new CDs (e.g., and to give a random example, Fleetwood Mac's Rumours ) that aren't burned-on-demand CD-Rs. He's had crummy luck so far with outlets such as that rainforest conglomerate 🤦‍♂️ and Barnes & Noble. Does anyone sell regular, more-or-less massmarket, CDs reliably any more? Up for sale are a pair of Altec H808 in the two piece casting. Great for those who want to build Altec iconic speakers. These have paint splatter on them but will clean up well. $1500 + shipping. Will need to be shipped in two boxes.

Greetings! I am very new to the world of Altec. I recently got a pair of restored Valencia 846b, with stock network, restored.
