OK I am scratching my head. I have never really run a taper attachment, so I do not have a ton of experience. I have set this up and IMO adjusted it the best possible. I am getting upwards of .500" lash before the taper starts to move. I have adjusted both sets of gibs. They are close enough right now that if I go another 1/4 turn it will lock up. I just picked up one of these 4510 vertical bandsaws. Its seems nice and heavy duty yet small enough for my garage as opposed to most of the vertical metal bandsaws ive seen. Does anyone have any info on them? I saw the 2 pages of info on vintagemachinery but id like to find an instruction manual if I could. Im looking for the type of oil that should go in the gearbox. I've had this Hedwick MV-100 mill for a couple of yeas now and I love it. It's quite versatile, has a broad RPM range, and has some very useful features, but there is very little information out there and literally no parts to be found anywhere. Can anybody help me with any service manuals or parts that you might have. So I'm measuring up the holes on the mounting plate of these bog standard Chinese caster/rubber feet. The hole diameter is 6.8 mm. That number jumps out at me but I don't know why (I never had the chance to shoot any of the 6.8 mm calibres when I was shooting so not that!). I wonder why they used 6.8 for what is a clearance hole? I look at the imperial/metric conversion poster I have up, and the nearest is 17/64ths (6.747 mm), so probably not that, I can't find any mention of... Read more

A friend brought for me two floor jacks. I started on the easier fix first. It was bent a little and one side of the orange plate was worn about a hundred thousandths making it force the load to one side. I disassembled enough to be able to weld in the bush area with some 7018 rod and file it to fit. Then After that was done, I had to add oil and the rubber seal was damaged and leaked oil so I tapped it a new hole with a 1/8 inch tap and made a plug as well since I didn't have one and... All, Got a Hardinge Brothers MT2 live center. Works fine but you can feel a little bearing grind when hand turning. Its not bad, just a light grind that I thought I’d take it apart and clean it up. Anyway, I got the cap off, but don’t see how it comes out. Doesn’t look the tail has an end cap that comes off either. ?? Just make some clamshell halves, clamp it in a vise and drive the body away? I go in for a 2 part hip replacement on my right leg, I have a 30 yr old rod and hardware in that leg that has to be removed, and heal 6 to 9 weeks before they can do the replacement.
