We did our annual family crab trip to Newport yesterday. Conditions were great, the crabbing was just OK. We decided to crab off the green tank this year. It was a bit surprising. First, there didn't seem to be a ton of crab around. We actually pulled quite a few blanks and quite a few with 5 or less crab. I bait pretty heavy, so that is unusual. We ran SW outta CR. Saw jumpers a few miles short of our planned destination. Fishing started decent and then went WFO. One 2 plus hour stop and we were plugged with a superb grade of fish. Amazing September day.

After running our new / used boat for a summer I want to rename it for a couple reasons: I don't really like the name "My Time 2" and there is at least one other "My Time" that fishes out of Newport which was confusing one day. Greetings from Michigan! I've been building some aluminum boats (mainly duck boats) over the last couple years, and really started getting into the jet boat side of things recently as I've been having more and more fun salmon and steelhead fishing our rivers. Mines a 175, but Im thinking it's the same for the others. Lost the water pump impeller at B10. Ended up taking it to a shop because I couldn't get then new one on without using a punch to get the key back in place. Shop used a punch to get it back in place. Thought I’d post my recent experience in the hopes that it may help others in the event of a similar problem. A few weeks back while trolling my outboard died suddenly and didn’t want to restart. Having only the one motor I floated downstream pondering my next move and scouring the internet for possible scenarios, none of which were anything I could really test or do anything about with what I had on hand. Decided to go for a drive today and ended up at the Jetty at Barview. There was a lot of fishing activity from the Ghost Hole out to the jetty and outside as well. Surprised at all the rigs and people in the county campground there too. Really busy. I sat out on the Jetty for about 45 minutes before high tide and just watched everything that was going on. Ever read The Baja Catch? I'm considering a Gregor for a Baja boat. The google location app on their website shows "Permanently Closed"! The phone number listed on their site is "disconnected". I have a soft spot for Gregors. My first boat was a Gregor. I currently have a ~30+ year old 15' Gregor I'm keeping afloat with spit and bailing wire. I was there last week, the Freezer was empty and the sign said "we no longer offer ice at this location" Asked two members and they said the machine is probably broken. ??? wouldn't the sign say so??? One of my patients is a manager at the Tigard location (no ice there) and said Costco uses Redi-Ice as there ice vendor and wasn't aware of the situation at Hillsboro. I have my own ice machine at home, but thought it may be of interest to those who get ice at Costco for tuna.

After spending a few days playing tug o' war for keeps with a bunch of unruly coho I keep finding scales EVERYWHERE. Tough problem to have right? How long after you've stopped fishing did you find your last scale in an unexpected place?
