Lovely photo off Facebook suggesting the photo was taken in the 1930s. What type of carriages are they? 6 wheelers?

I saw some photographs recently of some fine 6 wheel coach bashes using Thomas stock as a basis, can I find them again.....what do you think? Can anyone out there point me in the direction of what I have seen, I have searched using various terms and so far have drawn a blank. Thanks in anticipation John Bruce.

Don't know how Irish Rail can vet passengers. Recently had two weeks in BC, retracing old haunts from previous trips out there. Stunning scenery and amazing railways, but a lesser known gem has to be the BC Forest Museum, near Duncan, on Vancouver Island. Everything to do with the logging industry, there are preserved examples of Shay & Climax geared locos, including the only working Shay in Canada. Three foot gauge at that - so almost qualifies as Irish narrow gauge, but will climb 1 in 10 slopes with ease. Sound like it is doing 50mph, when actually only doing ten. Anyway, a few pics that may be of interest & more to follow. They are quite large files, so can only post a couple at a time.

We will all have seen Mol_PMB's truly outstanding brass etch model of a GSWR third, similar to Downpatrick's 836, on a separate thread. This etch is now available to purchase. I believe Paul (Mol) is finalising the assembly instructions as we speak. Purchase is from the ETCH MANUFACTURER, not Paul. I have ordered two, but it occurs to me that if anyone else in the greater Belfast or Dublin area wants one, we can combine orders to reduce the doubtless ridiculous postage charges per kit. If anyone is interested in getting one of these, please ping me privately or at jhb171@gmail.com and I will include yours in the order.

From coal hopper to nuclear flask barrier wagon — meet one of Britain's most unusual freight conversions. Britain's railways have always been good at finding new uses for old wagons. When traffic patterns change, wagons that had once been indispensable can suddenly find themselves surplus to requirements. Sometimes they were scrapped. Sometimes they were rebuilt. And occasionally, something rather more unusual happened. We've seen this in recent years with the HYA and HTA coal hoppers being made redundant due to the downturn in coal traffic, and conversion into the "cut down" hoppers for aggregate traffic. But, this is not a new thing for redundant coal wagons. In 1989, a group of redundant HEA and HBA wagons found themselves with a completely different job to do. They became RNA barrier wagons, forming part of the specialist fleet supporting nuclear flask traffic to and from Sellafield. And we're delighted to bring this fascinating and often overlooked wagon type to the Accurascale range. A very different job By the late 1980s, British Rail's Coal Sector network had a requirement for barrier vehicles to be used in connection with nuclear flask traffic serving Sellafield. The wagons needed to perform a very specific role: acting as barrier vehicles within trains conveying nuclear flasks, providing the necessary separation between the flask vehicles and the locomotives or other traffic. I have the following wagon Packs for sale €100.00 per pack plus postage. All are as new. The hoppers were run for a short while on the layout, the others were hardly removed form the packaging.
